Linear Modeling

 The explanatory variable is also known as the independent variable, and the response variable
is also known as the dependent variable. The explanatory variable is used to explain changes
in the response variable. In a scatterplot, the explanatory variable is plotted on the horizontal
axis and the response variable is plotted on the vertical axis.
 R2 is how good of the model.
Ex: R2 = 0.6789 => 67% of the varience and y is explained by x
 R is the correlation. When it’s nearly to 1 is stronger you can feel in your prediction
Ex: r= -0.8. The correlation coefficient r is close to −1. This means that the variables have a strong
negative association.
