Course Information
Catalog Description:
Introduction to entrepreneurship, and elements of business management with emphasis on managing
software and information and communication technologies projects. Concepts of project management;
project plan development, progress tracking, staffing, leadership, conflict resolution; organization, costs,
risks, control; entrepreneurship, basics of owning and operating a business, business plan development
for starting and financing a small business.

Credits: 2 Credit hours

Course Objectives:
1. Develop entrepreneurial and business knowledge and skills needed to develop innovative ideas into
profitable new ICT business ventures.
2. Prepare and encourage students to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in Qatar
for the creation and implementation of new business ventures.
3. Practice self-learning, team work, critical thinking, technical writing, and presentation skills.

Method of Instruction

The course will be primarily lecture-based, with frequent class discussions. The course will have two hours of
lecturing per week. A combination of power point and white board delivery will be used. Online web
demonstrations will be used. Questions are encouraged.

Quizzes 10% (Selection of the 2 best among 3 Quizzes)

software. No hand-written submission will be accepted

Course Ground Rules


Attendance Policy: University attendance policies will be enforced. Attendance will be
taken during each class meeting. You are responsible for all material
covered and all announcements made in class. Classes will start on
time. No one should be more than 5 minutes late. Switch off mobile
phones during lecture time, pay utmost attention to lecture.
Homework: All homework or project documents should be written using
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory according to University policies and more
than 25% absence will not qualify you for the course credit.
Submission: Appropriate computer software. All due assignments must be
submitted on time. Late assignment submission will not be accepted.
Grading: No requests for the change of grade will be accepted. However, any
calculation errors of marks will be rectified immediately.
Academic Honesty: Plagiarism (cheating on an exam, turning in something not entirely
your own) will not be tolerated. University rules will be enforced in
case of cheating and plagiarism.
