Der Merkurstab. Journal of Anthroposophic Medicine
Der Merkurstab is the international journal for Anthroposophic Medicine,
first published in 1946 in Stuttgart, Germany. While the rod of Asclepius
relates more to the outer aspects of the healing process, the staff of Mercury
(“der Merkurstab“) has stood for the more inner aspects of healing.
The journal publishes articles related to different disease processes, case
histories taken out current medical practice, as well as scientific work,
scholarly articles and case vignettes from anthroposophic pharmacy, non-
medical therapies, and nursing care. It also includes updates on scientific
and research projects, interviews, conference reports and editorials. The
journal is put out by the Association of Anthroposophic Physicians in Ger-
many and the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science, Dornach,
Switzerland.

Anthromedics
Anthromedics is a professional online portal offering articles on anthropo-
sophic medicine for physicians, nurses, and therapists, with information for
outpatient practice, hospitals work and training programs.
Anthromedics is published by the Association of Anthroposophic Physicians
in Germany (GAÄD) and the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Sci-
ence, Dornach, Switzerland.

Editorial work takes place in both Berlin, Germany, and Dornach, Switzerland.
The editorial team in Berlin (www.merkurstab.de) is responsible for the
online edition of Der Merkurstab and for content management of the entire
portal, including rights and user administration for subscribers and editorial
staff. The editorial team in Dornach is responsible for the content in the sec-
tions: Basic Concepts, Medical Disciplines, and Practice, and includes special-
ist editors, two copy editors, translators and an editorial board of doctors and
therapists.

Vademecum of Anthroposophic Medicines
The Vademecum of Anthroposophic Medicines is the primary reference for
prescribing anthroposophic medicines, with information related to outpa-
tient, inpatient and training settings. It includes detailed information regard-
ing the composition, available dosage forms, dosing recommendations and
approved indications.
The project arose out of a detailed questionairre which was shared interna-
tionally with anthroposophic physicians in 2006 and 2007. To date the pro-
cess has gathered 2,300 reports from 274 doctors in 19 different countries. In
the fourth edition 1,778 indications are presented, relating to 627 groups of
medicines, accompanied for the first time with a systematic introduction and
presentation of the therapeutic concepts which stand behind mistletoe ther-
apy as well as other supportive medicines used for oncologic disease. The
digital edition contains some 19,000 references.
Translations are available in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

External Applications are an integral and reliable part of anthroposophic
nursing care, often showing immediate and impressive effects. The Vademe-
cum of External Applications provides an important resource for nurses and
other medical professionals.
Ninety years of experience with poultices, compresses, Rhythmical Einreibun-
gen and therapeutic baths has created a real treasure within the field of
Anthroposophic Medicine and Nursing. The Vademecum is intended to serve
as a practical manual while simultaneously collecting, preserving and publi-
cizing these clinical treasures.
