Psychoanalytic therapy

Again, as what I shared in the class last time, I choose Psychoanalytic therapy and
why this theory?

According what I've learned about this theory, it focuses to the personality of the
client by which is the needs is needed to be meet. It discussed also the stages of
life, from infancy to being old, which is really helping the counsel how to help
his/her clients to have solution to their problem. It helps the client to meet their
needs according to their stages. And what I like in psychoanalytic is its goals.

a) to make the unconscious conscious

-means the counselors help their clients to see the problems that is needed
to be meet.

b) to strengthen the ego so that behavior is based more on reality and less
on instinctual cravings or irrational guilt.

-ego is vital to the structures of personality because it has contact with

external world of reality. It governs and controls the personality of an individual.
So, it's important that the source of their ego is more on reality.

That how I understand psychoanalytic therapy of Sigmund Freud. Now, what is

the significance of it for me as pastor's to be and counselor?
In the field, there's a possibility that I will encounter someone who needs
counsel of some issue. This theory will help me how to meet his/her problems, by
addressing where the stage of life he belongs.
