—Test Him and See 25 July 1969 by Neville Tonight's subject is: Test Him and See. In the Second Letter of Paul to ~ the (cainthians, the very last chapter, the 13th, he calls upon all of us, =~ for, he is addressing us, Although it was mitten two thousand years ago, he cally addneases every one in the world who will read the Letter; end he said: "Cxanine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith, Test your- acleee Do you not realize that Jesus (Arist is in you?” (Second (oninthians 13:5, Well, iff every (hristion in the world were brutally honest with himself, he would arsver, "No, 3 do not realize it, J think of (Arist as something on the outside.” That's what the (haistian would say, — "and you tell me He is ine.” J an called upon to test myself: "Do you not realize that Jesus (hri- 4a in you?" Well, if Jesus (hnist is in me, where is He? for J am told that “all thin, are possible to Him" (Mark 9:23). J am told that by Him "all things were made’ (John 1:3), "and without Him was not anything made that was made.” Well, if the Being who created and sustains the universe is in me, J want to find. J should devéte all my Life to the discovery of that Being who occu- pies me, who created and sustains the universe, to whom all things are possible Well, I'LL tell you who He is, He's your own wonderful, human imagination! Your oun wonderful imagination is the Divine Body of the Load Jesus, Well, now, test Him and see, because He creates everything. There Lan't « thing in this wrld that wasn't first imagined. Name it! Everything in the world that is now proven as something that is factual was once only imagined. You mean, My imagination is the Lond Jesus? Yes, your imapination is the Load Jesus; but He's dreaming. He is dreaming this world, He is dreaming that He is you; and, as you, He is dreaming whatever you experience in this world, J don'é care what it is: good, bad, on indifferent, He is suffering with you for He is dreaning the drean of your Life. He laid Himself down within you to dream; and gs He dreans, He dreans that He is you And whatever you think you are, that is what Jesus-in-you, who is the Lond forever, is dreaming! And wher He wakes, He is you! And you are the Load Jesua. This is the great mystery of all! I have many a time stretched out on a bed on reclined on a chair and begu. ~ to see what J should not see, J saw what Reason would deny that J could pos- aibly see; yet J couldn't deny that J an seeing it, J could no mone deny the evidence of this experience than J could the evidence of my senses at ary other Test Him and See Page 2 moment in time, — J couldn't, And then my imazination — call it "imazina- tion call it "consciousness" — it follows the thinker. J am seeing what J should not see; and then J step into the woald that J an seeing, and it is rec — just Like this, and J am real to myself, and the people are real, everythin, ds neal — just Like this. Ther J return to the place were J ew J was wher I began 40 see it. J netunn, and yet J am still secing it. J atep into it again. J retum -- oh, maybe a dozen on mone times; and then J decided to ven tune, regardless of consequences, No matter what happens, J will go, not only indo what J an seeing, but J am going to stay there and really explore. And my consciousness ateps into what J am seeing, and it's a world just Like this! Real solid, and J am sofid; and J walk out and J meet people, and they see me but J now exactly what J am doing, J know where that thing began! My body i on a bed. J hnow exactly where that bed is; it's in Beverly Hills, on EL Camino, J know the number, J know everything, -- J know exactly where it is. Aad, yet, here Jan in a world Like this, and it isn't thie world, and yet it ds this woald. And, then, J say to theseYadies, “Ladies, this isa drean, This whole thing is a dream." snd they looked at me, a4 any one present here would Look at me if J told you night now, -= and J can, may J tell you? — the this is adrean! Jf J todd you right now, "Ladies and Gentlenen, this isa drean,” you would think, Why did J come here tonight? This man is insane; he! mad! Well, that's what : that I was mad, and they got as far may from me as they possibly could doun the corridor, There they walked as far ac they could, locking at me suspiciously; and J am looking at thesettw lovely dadies -- gracious ladies, as you are, — no desine to hurt, only to tel then this whole thing is a drean!. nd when they got beyond and felt safe, they ai moat nan doun the conridon — a beautiful, beautiful interion of a plush, plus hotel. And there J stood, shut out in a drean, I mew exactly where J laid my body down in Beverly Hills on a street cai C4 (amino. J new it was a double bed, and my wife was right next to me; and hene J an, standing erect in a place mone Lit thar this, far aorgplush than this is -- Luminous, and I am shut out; and J have unfinished business in thi- world that you and J now know A child not yet educated — a child just enter high school; a wife, and J had not yet prepared to cushion the blow if J shoul depart now, What would they do for — well, money in the immediate future, fo I hadn't yet prepaned to cushion thein Life beyond my departure. And here Jc standing, and there is no way back to Beverly Hills, and that world is just Li this, Test Him and See Page 3 Then J remembered what J did years before, when J had a similar experienc and it was all based upon feeling; and J could touch something, and J held wir J touched and made myself awake. So, a J held it, J said, Come on! wake up!’ and J whe, holding the object that J imagined, which was in this world, And that's how J awoke, J nemenbered that; 40, then, J said to myself, while aton ing perfectly erect, "J will now imagina that my head is ona pillow, Jé's in Beverly Hills, in my noon on El (Canines and J could feel the pillom And, the wher J could feel that pillow, J felt myself back’ — nod in a vertical state, but in a horizontal state, but J couldn't open my eyes. J was cataleptic. Th body was "dead," J was alive within a body that I could not move; the thing was completely cataleptic. Then in about -- oh, maybe a half-minute, J could move the Little finger, and then move the hand, then push it out and J could feel the warnth of my wife's body. Ther I new J was back, J still couldn't open my eyes, And, ther, maybe in another half-minute, J made a tremendous ¢/ fort, and the eyes came open, and here are all the familiar objects in the aoom: the bureau, pictures on the wglls, -- the noamal, natural things that J had Left behind; and J knew that J had. entered a world, just Like this, and I entered it from a state that the world would call a drean, When J cane back, J could only conclude that this world where J an now, the bed — touching the woman who is my wife, the mother of my daughter, —- an this, 400, isa dream, but J can't xenender where J Laid that body down when ‘ began to drean this dream, J couldn't renenber where that body was, fon tha was the oniginal body that started this drean, and the othen was only a drear within a dream Well, then, J began to experiment, as J did prion to that, Sf my imagine tion is Jesus (Arist, a6 taught in Scripture; and if by Him all things were made, “and without him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3), well, then, J can take the challenge that Paul gave us: "Examine yourselves to sec whether you are holding to the faith, Test yourself"— not the other —~ "Tec yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus (faiet is in you” (Second (onin- thians 13:5) Well, if He is in me, then He is the one who stepped into that world and aetuaned into this world; and in this world He's dreaming this, and can He modify this drean? J began to experiment, and J began to imagine that J an what Reason denies, what my senses deny, and J became it in this world! J be- gan to teach it to others, and J told others to do it ina simple way, Like a dream, You start with a dream; and you conceive a acene which, if true, would’ imply the fulfillment of your dream in this world; that the potency of that Teat Hin and See Page 4 thing is all in what it is implying, Just try it, Bring before your mind's eye a acere, friends, and have the friends congratulating you on your good fortune; and you accept it just as though it were érue, and then drop it, And, then, Let it happen in this world. Let it happer. Then J repeated it and repeated it and repeated it, and taught it; and those who believed me, who taied it, proved it Then J found who He was. 3 found. that neally the God of the universe is in man, and. man silibbly is his our wonderful, human imagination! That man's imagination is the Eternal Body of the Load that ia called Jeaus. That is Jesus He's crucified on this body, on your body, on Humanity. The day will come that He will awake from this dream; but in this world h: is dreaming. He is dreaming that Hes you! And the day will come that He wil amke from that drean, strangely enough not Leaving you behind detached, but He will .avake and you are He! "Unless J die," said He, "Thou canst not Live.” (See John 12:24) "But if J die, 9 shall anise again, and thou with me." He will not Leave you behin He actually becane humanity, that humanity might become God! That's the stony and. it's not talk; but J an telling you what J know from my oon wonderful huna experience, J have done it time and again: gone right into a world just Like this, and nothing dies Tonight when some one appears to die, they will only close a section of + Efernal Book that they were dreaming. They simply close it, and you call ther "dead." They are nod dead! They are in a world just Like this, and they are solid. They are temestrial; the world is terrestrial, How? They are unac- countably new. J cannot explain to you how it happens, any mone than J can ex plain 40 you how tonight when J go to bed and sleep and dream, that J an real zo myself in my dream, and J an neal to those who see me, J am clothed; yet the body is on the bed, And J aleep, and have fon the last foaty-odd years, i the nude. J go to bed, ard find myself clothed the way J am now, Where is the clothing? Where is the body? The body is on the bed, but that dream is neal; and when J avake within the drean, it's just Like this -- just Like thin So, this is as much of a dream as the dream in which J have awakened; anc not one friend of mine haa ever died, J see then, and they are solidly real, and unaccountably nev — not Little children, but nev, — no need of false teeth, no need of glasses, no need of anything. They are new But eventually Test Him and See Page 5 they have these things because they grow old there, too. They age therexand die when they come zo the end of that section of the Book of Life. Then they awaken to find they are "nealing" another chapter, and they continue the Book of Life; and we ane dreaning the Dacam of Life. Jn. the end, we will awaken from the Dream of Life, hnowing that every onc eventually will do it; but while we are in this world, we can modify the daca IL I know I'm dneaning, J can change it. So, some oneccomes into my world, and he's unemployed, yet he needs money; he has a family to support, He need: money to buy all the things that a family needs; and I'm dreaming that. Well, I'LL change that dreanl J will see him as gainfully enploged and happy in hie farily, and every- thing is as it ought to be. So, J changed the script. J have the power to change it, and he confonna to my change, and he works, Now, J can't see you now unless you penetrate my brain. Everything that J perceive, J perceive only because it as an object in space is penetrating m; bean. So, at once, you exist, nod only in ae, bp.penetration, but you exiat 0 an object occupying a place in space independent of my perception of you; but you do exist sipultancoucly in me, because you have penetrated my brain, and you also exist as something occupying space in the surrounding world, Now, rm: I wait fon you to change, 40 change in me? On, can J change in me what J see there, and make the charge take place there? Well, try it, This is the test. St (aris is in us, — well then, do J wait fon objects in space to char fon it to change in me, on can J change it in me, fon you are penetrating my brain on J couldn'é perceive you? Well, I'LL change that which peneteates my brain, and it is one with that which is in space, because if you should change 24 would change in me. Well, now, if J change you in me, J could change you i the other world, Then J tay it, and it wake. J tay changing in me what oth- exs appear to be. Jt was not lovely, and they requested a change; they felt they couldn't baing it about, and tumed £0 me. ALL night, 40 if He is in me, ard all things are created by Him, “and wit out Him is not a thing mask that is made" (John 1:3), well, then, J will chan: it, So, inmy mind's eye J represented him, on then, to myself ae J would Lis 40 see then and a4 they would Like to see thenselves; and then J did nothing, beyond simply changing then in me, and persuading myself of the reality off tha change; and ther they conformed to it, Well, if they confonned to it, then J —~ have found Him! "Fon all things ane made by Him, and without Him is not anythi made that is made." (John 1:3) Teat Him and See Rige 6 So, "exanine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to the faith, Tec pourselves. Do you not realize that Jeaus (Arist Ls in you?" (Second Corin- thians 13:5) Read it in the 13th chapter of Second (onrinthians, And there's no mone glorious end than in that chapter, the greatest benediction that you could ever read: "Ard may the grace of the Load Jesus (Arist and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spinit be with you all,” (Second (orinthiars 13:14) That's how he ends that letter. Have you ever heard a mene glorious benre- diction? ". . . bé with you all” What? The grace of the Lond Jesus (haist. Well, "grace" means a gift unmerited, unearned, unwarranted; a complete, won- derful gift that no one could ever eaan, — the gift of the Lond Jeaus (frist! Then he comes to the love of God. J can't conceive of that; it's infinit He is infinite in His love, And, then, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, mak- ing us all one, That's the benediction, Buk that challenge in that 4th verse, when he ashe you if you do not real. age that God =- he calls Hin "Jesus (haist: "Do you not realize that Jesus Chrisd is in you?" (Second (oninthians 13:5) Well, you ask that of the (hais- Aians of the world; and if they were bautally honest, they would teLl you, ‘No, I don't realize it,” But, now, teat it; and when you teat it, you find Hin, And. after you find Him through testing, I'LL make you a promise: You are going to have the experience of Jesus (Arist, And everything said of Him in the Bible, you are going to have it in a first-person, singular, present-tense experience; and you will know that you are the Lond Jesus (hatat! That God ac: tually became us, that we may become God! That is the stony. So, when, sitting on a chair on lying on a bed, == and it's happened to m 40 often, — J see a world that is so neal, and J shouldn't see that world -- because if J am seeing what J ought to see, J should see the walls, the pictur. that J now, the things — thebbjects that J know that are in this asem, — ar J am nok s0cing these things at all J am seeing an entirely different world, and ther something moves within me, and my consciousness follows my vision; ar J atep into the world that J am seeing, J enter it, And then J renain in it dong enough to have it close upon me, and this world is completely shut out. Yet, that world is as neal as this world, and J find myself moving in that world -- J atroll, And it's just as neal as this world! Now, last night a friend of mine, who is here tonight, having heard this atony of mine a Little while back, — he told me of an experience of his, and it really was a thrilling experience. J am going to ask him to take thepplat- form and tell you what was told him when he sat at a bar on a hot summer's day. Test Him and See Page 7 J am going 40 ash him to heep it down just to the essentials, not to embellish it and nod to attenpt to interpret it —~ just to tell you what was told him by one who had this experience. Verne, will you take the platfonn? Verne: J have been coming to Neville's Lectures four on five years in Sar Faaneisco, and J Live about 55 on 57 miles down the Peninsula, Jt was Last aw. mer just before Neville cane to San Faanciaco that J had been taking some mater ial to the Poat Office about 5:00 o'clock in the evening, and was returning to my home through the business district, and J sao the doon of a baraoom open. Je was a very hot day, and J thought, "Ok, on an afternoon Like this, the nice: thing J could have night now in my experience would be a cold bottle of beer.” So, I parked my can and went into this bar. I noticed that it had been redec- onated, J had been in this place before, but not for several months, There ui nav Leather paneling all around the wells with metal atuds, There were nev atools, and the {loon was all redone. Jt was very attractive and a very pleas place to be. And the ban had been modified a Little bit to make it xather "L" ahaped, J noticed that every seat was taken, except at the far end where the anall Leg of the "L" would be. So J went doun there to find myself a seat, an there were tuo stools; but the one J could not occupy because there was an ash tnay there that had a tiganetite in it, and there was a glass, Some one was oc cupying that stool; 40 J took the only one that J could which was next to the wall, wondering who might be in the seat next t mine, Jn a few moments a man came back from the Lavatony and sat down beside me He was about five feet seven, clean cut, shaven, coal dark hair, and rather solidly built, — a pleasart-loohing person. But it's not my custom to seek fon comparionship in bars, and J had no desire to conduct a conversation with him; but he wanted to talk to me. J was not rude to him, but J anewered ever, thing that he said in monosyllables, 40 sont of indicate that J'd rather con- duct my affairs by myself; but he insisted on speaking to me, and he wanted tc frow if J was an engineer because J Live in that part of the Peninaula where thene is a lot of electnonics industry. J said, "No, J am noz an engineer.” Mell, what do you do?” he asked. J said, "J happen to be a miter"; and the fact that J was a weiter trig gered something in him, He had been down to that pontion of (alifoania where old treasures are reputed to be, and some months ago he had found some old Spanish coins, and he had wmitten an article about these coins which had been published ina magazine. He bought that out because he thought it would be o Test Him and See Page 8 interest to me, which it was; and then we got to talking a Little bit mone, anc he said, "You know, that's the part of the United States where many of these people go that are interested in unidentified flying objects, Do you believe dn those things?” I had to say that J didn't have ary feeling one way on the other about it because J had had no experience with then; but J said, "J can tell you somethir of interest if you are interested in that sont of thing. I was the Personnel Officer with the United States Ain Force in 1952 at a large andar station in Wisconsin, near the twin cities of Minneapolia and St, Paul; and we had the nadanacope working 24 hours a day, pleking things out of the shy, as part of our surveillance over the (anadian border.” J said, "Our men used 40 pass on weather reports to commercial airliners because they would pick up advance notice of these things.” And J said, "One night they clocked some object in the earth's atmosphere that was going at an enoamous nate of speed — nine thousand miles an hour, on something Like that, and then it atopped with no cuave on anything and just took off in another direction.” J said, "That is the Limit of my experience with unidentified flying objects, We made a photo- ic impression of what appeared on the nadarscope and sent it to Washing to: and that's the last J heard of it.” Our conversation cane to a halt at that moment, and then he said, “You hi when J was in the war, J was a Marine and J was in the Pacific Theater, and J was wounded in the Leg there and was taken to a hospital in Japan, And one night while J was on this hospital bed in Japan, J had a dream. And all of o sudden," he said, "J awoke in this dream, and J found myself in a Large beauti ful ballroom, and there were many couples who were dancing to some very state. music, and it must have been something Like a French court on a European roye/ fanidy of sone kind, because,” he said, "it was very onnate, and it was very stately." He said, "ALL the women were wearing hoop skints, long hoop shints, powdered wigs that came doun to their shoulders, and the men were wearing knee breeches with silver buckles on their shoes; and J an dancing with this woman, and J an trying £0 tell her that J an having a dream on a hospital bed in Jape and she was part of my dream, as all of the dancers were, and she wouldn'd « eccept what J was saying. She said to: me, 'Oh, you've had too muck to drink out of the puach bowl; 40 J think maybe we should atep out of this dance and over there and have one mone glass to get you straightened out.’" So, they broke away from the other dancers and he, proteatingly, wert ale with hea, trying to tell her that he believed he was sincere in what he was telling hea, and she wouldn't accept it, and he began 40 get a Little bit dou Test Him and See Poge 9 about it, and finally it was noticed by other dancers and some of the men baok away and came over to see what all the trouble was about. She todd then, "Thi _ man is out of his mind and is insisting that thie isa dream, that we are all dream figures”; and he inaisted on it, He said, "At that point they began to move in on me as though they were going 40 overpower me and shackle me, because J was creating auch a ruckus.” And then he said, "P{f}, it was Like smoke, and it all disappeared, and J was back on my bed in Japan.” Je was then that J told him Neville's stony, and J thought his eyes were going to fall out of his head because he had not heard of this experience fror ay one else, Neville: Thank you, Verne; thank you. Thank you very much. Now, here you've heard it from one who was told itatabar. II said you are oll fig- unes in my dream, you would think me completely insane, and yet J will not ne- tnact one word. You are dreaming me, and J am dreaming you; and we are drean- ing this scene 40 be; and while we are in it, in the world of Caesar, we car modify the drean and change it and make it conform to a better daeam than the script that ve are "neading.” But the day will come, you will awaken from the drean of Life; and when you avahen, you are the Lond Jesus (Arist! This is the stony that J am trying to get over to every one in the world, So, you condemn no one, for what you are seeing is all part of yosie drec: Now, test it and see. But you ane told in this 13th chapter: Test yourself. You don't teat the other, You teat yourself, and the other is a part of your dream; 40 you can't appeal to him. You appeal £0 yourself! Jf he is in your dream and he's not doing what you'd Like him to de -~ he's unemployed and he's a burden on society Well, ther, enploy him. See h gainfully enployed, making far more than he ever dreaned that he cowld ever make, and Let him go. He will conform to your modified dream. See the other, and the other one wants to be = J don't care what he war: It they want 40 be socially prominent, if, they want to be this, that on the other, what does it matten in the drean, So, he wants to be something very i portant, Does it take anything from you? No; you are the dreamer. The drea ex in man is God. Now, there are three ancient manuscripts concerning the beginning of the Bible. They are hnoun only by Letters. We speak of the "J" manuscript, the %€" manuscript and the "P" manuscript. Scholars do not know who they are They ane all attributed to a mythological figure calldd "Moses." But neventh: Less, in the Book of Genesis it is only "J", "E" and "P"; and they havennaned Test Him and See Page 10 it “Jehovah, "Elohim," and the "Priestly"; but the "E" manuscript begins with the 15th chapten of the Book of Genesis. Jz doesn't mention the finet fourter. chapters; it has not a thing to say about the so-called creation and the flood. Lé bepima with Abaahan, before his name was Abaahan, when his name was Abram. That's the 15th chapter, and in this chapter he asks fon a aon. He said, "J have no son. Why can't you give me a sok? And the con born in my household of a slave will be my heir.” And the Lond said to him, "He will not be your heir; your oun con will be your heir." (Genesis 15:3) Then the Lond God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Abram, and Abaan slept. (Genesis 15:12) Now, not a thing is said that he ever awoke! Abaan slept, anv the Lord said to him, "You will be slaves fon four hundaed years; and when you come out, you will have an abundance beyond what you had prior to the deep ale: that falls upon you and you will suffer. You will be a slave during this sleep." This is the 15th (hapten of Genests (Genesis 15:13, 14). May J tell you? you are the Abram spoken of. The "four hundred” docan'é mean four hundred years a4 we would measure time. Foun hundred is the numaci- cal value of the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which is “tau"; and the syabolical value of that isa croas. The "cross" is this (indicating physical body) body. This is the cross, the "tau," the four hundred that you wear; and until you take it off finally, af the very last, you ane enslaved. You ane en alaved by the cross that you wear. You pertonn all of ite functions, No matter how powerful you ane, you cannot pay any one on command. any one 42 perfonn fon you the noamal, natural functions of this cross You must as similate and eliminate, and do everything that this body demand; and you can- not turn it over to some one else to do it fon you, no matter who you are. So, this is the slave body that Abachan wears; and when he comes out of this drea. he will be enhanced a hundredfodd. Whatever the creative power you possessed prion to your descent into thic garment, it will be enhanced a hundaedfold. Whatever the wisdom that you possessed prion to the descent, an hundredfold, So, this is God, and God alon who is playing all the parts, Here we have a play, and you and J will not avoid the play. We real it and we play it, Now, to play a part, a good actor must, to some extent, feel the part tho he is playing, and to the best of his ability identify himself with the char- acter tat he is playing, He must do that, So, God is not pretending that He i4 you; He had to completely forget His infinite power and take on the Linita- tions of you, in onder to play "you" as you ought to be played. Teat Him and See Page 17 So, God is not pretending that He is man. He became man! He became mar, that man may become God! That's the only way that God could actually extend His own Being = His wonderful Being. So, you are the God of Scripture, You ane the God of the universe. You were the God that created the heavens and sustains the heavens for a divine purpose; and when the play is over, and we ell awake from the dream, we know each other, for you and J nav each other a: brothers before we descerded. J knee you ard. loved you beyond the wildest deans that man could ever think of, - a fove 40 dear, 40 tender, that not a thing on earth could ever compare to it. That's how we loved each other. And you and J agaced to drea in concert, and not to break the dream until it was over. And when the whole thing is over, -- and may J tell you? it is over, not collectively, but it is over one by one because you are 4o unique, you can't be replaced. Nox one per on in Eternity can take your place in the Risen Body of the Living God! Not one. J would be a catastrophe beyond redemption if you could be lost. You can't be oat. You must netuan as a Living atanc¥n the Living body of the Risen Load. And by “Living atone,” J mean a Being way beyond the wildest drec of any one here on earth, And when we meet in that Living Body, we will re~ member the Being that we loved before we descended, as told us in the S2d Paalm : "I aay "You ane gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, you shall die Like men, and fall as one mar, 0 ye princes.” (Paalm 82:6,7, Re vised Standard version, with footnote) So, we tell as one man, and becane diversified in these garments of flesh and blood, wearing different pigments: some wearing whiterbodies, yellow bodies, black bodies; and behind the mask of these bodies is God -- noi Lesa than the other one. Not one because of the pigment of the shin is Less « greater, It's all God! There's nothing but Godw J wouldn't wart to be greater than the one J loved before the Fall, and J will not be, ALL will be one. We ventured into this world of death, and x will come out of it, and return to the woald of Life — the eternal world. This is the most marvelous venture in the world; but while you wear the mash, we can't quite see it, Wow, J an telling you this tonight, not from speculation. J am not the- onizing; J am not speculating. J have experienced Scripture. Everything saic in the Gospels concerning Jesus (haist, J have experienced, from the (aucifixi straight thaough to the descent of the Holy Spirit in bodily form as a dove!
