Field of Application ‘This standard applies to parts produced exclusively by stanping proc esses (see DIN 9870 Part 1) fram flat steel products with a thickness of over 0.1 om and called, in short, ‘stanpings". Stamping processes also include cutting by nibbling, covered by DIN 8588, but clause 3.4 should be noted. This standard does not cover fine blanking processes (see VDI 3345). ‘The specifications specified by this standard apply whenever reference is made to it in drawings or associated instructions (e.g. order instructions) If this standard is occasionally used for parts made fran senis which are other than flat or of materials other than steel, this shall be arranged by special sgreenent between supplier and custamer: ‘The following section of the standard specifies general requirenents imposed on stampings by the producer and custoner. Any requirenent's deviating fram these shall be settled by epecial agreement. 2. Flat Products Stampings are produced ¢.g. fram the following flat products DIN 1016. Steel Flat Products; Hot-Rolled Strip, Hot-Rolled Sheet below 3 um Thickness, Dimensions, Dimensional, Shape and Weight Tolerances. DIN 1017 Part 1 Steel Bers; Hot-Rolled Flat Bars for General Purposes; Dimensions, Weights and Tolerances: DIN 1017 Part 2 Steel Bars; Hot-Rolled Flat Bars for Special Purposes; Dimensions, Weights and Tolerances: DIN 1541 Steel Flat Products; Cold-Rolled Wide Strip and Sheet of Unslloyed Steels; Dimensions, Dimensional and Shape Tolerances Stanpings Comittee of DIN (German Standardisation Institute) 1 DIN 6930 Pare 1 DIN 1543 Steel Flat Products; Hot-Rolled Plate/Sheet of 3 co 150 1m Thickness; Dimensional, Weight and Shape Tolerances. DIN 1544 Steel Flat Products; Cold-Rolled Steel Strip; Dinensions, Dinensional and Shape Tolerances. DIN 1616 ‘Tinplate and Thin Sheet in the Form of sheets; Grades, Dimensions and Tolerances DIN 59 200 Hot-Rolled Wide Flat Steel; Dimensions, Tolerances and Weights. 3. Requirenents 3.1, General Tolerances ‘These are specified in DIN 6930, Part 2. 3.2. Surfaces With exception of the cut surfaces, the surface condition of the stampings shall be the sane as that of the plate/sheet used Defomat ion-induced phenanena such as light scale, slight forming scratches and minor surface unevenness are unavoidsble in this instance. Stampings are supplied without protection against corrosion. If special requirenents are imposed on surface quality, these shall be agreed e.g. ~ serateh-free N.B. When viewed within the range of ‘clear visibility’ (250 am without @ magnifying lens), no scratches should be visible. = descaled shot-blasted ~ pickled ~ oiled = phosphated > prined ~ coated ~ galvanised. 3.3. Gut Edges Stanpings produced by cutting generally have @ cutting burr. DIN 6930 Part 1 Where necessary, the cutting burr height and direction shall be settled by agreement. For guide data on burr heights, see DIN 9830. If the cutting burr is not permitted for functional or safety reas~ ons, special agreements entailing additional process operations shall be made, cut Surfaces No requirements are stipulated for the finish on cut surfaces. Tt should be noted, however, that stampings produced by nibbling have an undulating cut surface oving to the nature of the process. Because of this feature, the use of nibbling shall, in principle, be agreed between producer and customer: Tolerances on Ordered Quantities ‘The tolerances on ordered quantities given below shall apply for deliveries of stanpings. Nunber of Stampings ‘Tolerances (aostly determined by ‘manual. counting) cover 10 up to and including 50 £5 stampings ‘over 50 up to and including 150 £5 stanpings ‘over 150 up to and including 500 2m over 500 a Quantities ordered ty weight 210 I short quantities are not acceptable to the customer, this shall be agreed at the tine of placing the order. Order Information If stampings are 10 be supplied to the specifications in this standard, ‘drawings or other information provided by the customer should bear the following reference: Specifications DIN 6930 DIN 6930 Part 1 4.1 Drawing Data ‘The custaner's drawings shall be authoritative for the purpose of production. Drawings prepared by the supplier shall, in exceptional cases, be authoritative if these have been approved by the customer 4.2 Material, Delivery Condition ‘The material (grade) and delivery condition shall be clearly stated. When deciding on the delivery condition, it should be borne in mind that, during the forming process, strength increases of up to 10% above the upper strength limit of the initial flat product can occur. It is, therefore, recomended that an agreement be made between the customer and producer of the stampings regarding the requirenents for processing. This can be important with regard to further proc~ essing of the stamping. 4.3. Marking Industrially produced stampings are not normally marked. Marking can, however, be agreed in special cases. 5. Heat Treatment In nomal industrial practice, stampings are not heat treated after forming, blanking or welding. Heat treatnents can, however, be agreed in special cases e.g.: ~ stress relieving ~ soft anneal ing = normalizing ~ hardening and tempering. 6. Tools 6.1 Customer~Tied Tools Customer-tied tools are tools which are made or procured by the producer of the stampings for the customer and at the customer's expense. The producer of the stampings nomally undertakes to main~ tain, renew and carefully store the tools. If a period of 3 years lapses since the customer's last order for stampings made with these tools, the producer of the stampings is not nomally bound to keep the tools in his stock any longer. The stampings producer shall, however, warn the customer well before the expiry of the 3 year period DIN 6930 Part 1 6.2 ‘Tools Not Tied to a Particular Customer ‘These tools are tools for the production of stampings which are not nade or procured for a specific customer. They are made by and paid for by the producer himself, He can, therefore, use the tools as he wishes ‘and can modify then or discard then at his om discretion, 7. Tnspection and Testing ‘The type and scope of inspection and testing depend on the requiren- feats imposed on the stampings during subsequent processing and in eventual service. The custaner slone knows these requirenents and shall inform the producer of them. The inspection/tests are divided into two groups. 7.1 Nomal Inspection and Testing Methods ‘These include checks on the compliance of the stampings with the requirements stated in the order as well as inspection for surface defects and surface cracks in so far as these are visible to the naked eye. 7.2. Additional Inspection and Testing Methods ‘These include tests going beyond the nomal testing and inspection procedures e.g. hardness tests, magnetic crack detection, ultrasonic testing and other techniques. The type and extent of these tests shall be decided by @ special agreement between custaner and producer. 8. Certification of Quality for Delivery 8.1 Stanpings produced with the noms] inspection and testing procedure in accordance with clause 7.1 are delivered without a certificate: 8.2 When a special agreanent has been made e.g. for an enhanced level ‘of inspection and testing in accordance with clause 7.2, the custaner ‘and producer can agree to provide proof of testing in a certificate ‘of compliance with the order, a test report, a manufacturer's test certificate or an inspection certificate in accordance with DIN 50 049.
