XLOOKUP searches for data both horizontally and vertically. XLOOKUP can refer to the
left of the lookup value and has optional fields that includes the match mode, and the
search mode. XLOOKUP supports an optional parameter called not found that
countermands the #N/A error when a match isn’t found in the lookup table. In XLOOKUP,
specifying the lookup value column is a must and the return value column alone.
Meanwhile, VLOOKUP searches only vertically, and always look up the values towards
the right of the lookup value. VLOOKUP does not have optional fields, and returns the
default error message #N/A error. In VLOOKUP, specifying the entire table array is
needed.
