For the learning journal unit one, I am going to write answers for the following questions;

1. Why did you decide to come back to school at this time?

2. Which degree program did you select and why?
3. What careers are you considering after your degree is completed?
4. What concerns or worries do you have about coming back to school?

 Why did you decide to come back to school at this time?

After completing my school lessons and graduation from school, I decided to start
university in order to progress further and take a bigger and stronger step in the field of science,
knowledge, and awareness, so I decided to come back to school at this time.

 Which degree program did you select and why?

Bachelor of computer science is the program that I selected for my degree, I chose the
field of computer science due to my passion and interest in computers and its science.

 What careers are you considering after your degree is completed?

Because I want to become a good programmer in the future, I will consider to work as a
great programmer after completing of my degree.

 What concerns or worries do you have about coming back to school?

The worry or the concern that makes me think about coming back to school is the state of
my country and whether in this situation our family can support us in the field of
education or not, because I am worried that my scholarship will end and I will not be able
to continue my studies because financially I am not able to pay the money and in our
country Afghanistan, the political and economic situation has reached its peak, but if I
have the opportunity to continue my studies normally, then I will not have any concern or
worries ahead.

The first strategy I'd like to discuss is DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY POLICIES.
Based on what I've read, UO People has a one-of-a-kind policy for encouraging diversity
within its academic structure by fostering unity and neutrality in order to improve the
learning environment between its faculty and students by " inclusiveness values
awareness and an understanding of one another’s differences and similarities and strives
to treat all with dignity and respect." (University of the people, 2022).
Therefore, It is critical for any organization that wishes to strengthen its commitment to a
diverse and appealing environment to open the doors of liberality. It is easy to be
exclusive, but it isn't simple to be inclusive, and bringing all of the people who want to be
a part of your organization requires hard work. As a result, they need a safe space, a
protective environment, justice, and non-discrimination opportunities. So for that, I was
given the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful organization because it gives me the
freedom of choice, the voice to speak, and the right to gain knowledge when I would not
have had these options otherwise.
The second most important policy in my opinion is the ACADEMIC FREEDOM
POLICY, which states that "the freedom of a university to set its intellectual priorities
without undue interference from outside authorities, and the freedom of students, course
instructors, deans, faculty, and all other subject matter experts to promote wide-ranging
discussion of intellectual, academic, and moral concerns by teaching, studying, writing,
speaking, and pursuing knowledge, inquiry, and research without undue interference
from outside authorities." (University of the University, 2022). Moreover, learning is a
fundamental human right that should be available to anyone who wishes to learn or teach,
because the world was built by having experienced, discussing, and gathering knowledge,
not by restricting knowledge.

My desired degree is bachelor degree in Computer Science.

2.     I plan to take 2 course per term and I think I would take 20 term to finish my
degree.

3.     In fact, I am looking forward to all my course all look so interesting. Although, I am
really exited for programming and it’s strategies and fundamental so I am looking
forward these classes because I want to start to create my own program so they would
be very helpful for me and for my career.

4.     I am little nervous and concern about some programs like C++ and Java, because
they seem a little hard for me and I must study hard to pass them.

The five skills that I am mastered in:

The skills that I could ever be mastered are: Reading, Planning, Goal setting,
Researching, perceiving feeling.

I learned these skills in school and English classes. For example, in school, I had to write
an essay per week, so I read and studied a lot to write better information. I also needed
to have a perceptive feeling to understand what I needed and research that I had.
Furthermore, I have been setting goals and planning for the future since I was a child, so
I know what I really want and always follow through on my plans, which is why I am so
good at it.

The five skills I need to be mastered:

Motivating, time management, organizing, creativity, and Handling a crisis are the skills I
need to master in order to achieve the career I desire. I want to be a software engineer
so that I can create my own programs, so I need these skills. For example, I should
motivate myself and others to do better work, and I should have time management
skills so that we can complete our tasks in the shortest amount of time possible.
Furthermore, organization is essential for having an organized company, and creativity is
essential for creating new things.

Outline template:

1. My essay topic is the significance of watching movies.

2. I chose this topic because I enjoy watching movies in my spare time. I also want to
show the reader that a movie can be more than just entertainment.

3. The article I read for my essay, The Power of Movies, was written by Noel Carrol in
1985 and was found in JASTOR.

4. I'd like to talk about three points:

a. Watching movie is the best way for learning English.
b. The viewer is affected by watching a movie (from the article).
c. You can gain new experiences by watching a movie.

The essay:
In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies because it is both entertaining and
educational. It is an excellent way to learn anything, particularly the English language, by
influencing its viewers and exposing them to new experiences. This piece information
will show you how a movie impacts its viewers and how it can be a learning way.
The best way to learn English is to watch movies. First, watching movie will advance
your listening skill which is the most important skill. Moreover, you can learn lots of new
words, phrases and idioms from it.
Films are slices of reality that have a realistic effect on their viewers (Carrol, 1985).
Every movie contains a message that you have never heard before, or a lesson that cannot
be found in any book or taught in school, so this is how it influences you, it teaches you
new lessons that are truly important in life.
When you watch a movie, you feel as if you are the main character, and everything that
happens to the main character feels as if it is happening to you. Meanwhile, the
interesting thing is that your subconscious mind cannot distinguish between what actually
happens to you and what you imagine and think happens to you, so everything that you
think happens to you is recorded as one of your experiences in your subconscious mind,
so you experience things that you would never experience in real life.
In conclusion, watching movies is not only a fun way to spend your free time, but it also
helps you learn valuable life lessons. Furthermore, it allows you to discover new and
exciting things.
