FUJITSU PSWITCH User's Guide 6 Maintenance This chapter describes the maintenance of this product. 6.1. Preparation IP address for maintenance support For the maintenance support by our technical staff, access to the management port of this switch is usually required. For this purpose, our technical staff member may ask you to use one of your management network IP addresses tentatively to set his of her maintenance terminal PC. Another management network IP address may also be needed, if the management port of this switch does not have any IP address yet. Please make sure beforehand that one or two IP addresses are available for this purpose. Other requirements for maintenance support The preparation for the following items and information are also expected for the efficient support. * Console cable which is packed together with this product is used for the connection to the console port of this switch, Please confirm the console cable exists. Figure 6-1: Console Cable © Please confirm that there is an AC power socket available for the use of a maintenance terminal PC. 240 July/2022 User's Guide FUJITSU PSWITCH * For the privileged access to the switch, technical staff may ask you the administrator password of the switch. Please make sure that you know the valid password to login as administrator. File transport server File transport service is required for some maintenance tasks such as configuration backup/restoration, and firmware upgrade. If you perform these tasks by yourself, you need to prepare for a server with FIP, TFTP or other supported file transport service. Some technical support may have such file transport service in his or her maintenance terminal PC. 6.2. How to Replace the Switch (FRU: Field- Replaceable Unit) 3X Maintenance procedures of Field-Replaceable Unit can only be performed by Fujitsu service personnel or Fujitsu trained technical personnel, Please be aware that, if the system is illegally interfered, the warranty becomes invalid, and the manufacturer's responsibility is exempted. = | Main unit maintenance parts include FAN Unit and Power Unit. When 1 replacing the main unit, please replace the FAN unit and the power supply unit together. In a case you have any attachments, please return all of them. fi] Basically, after replacement of these devices, the latest firmware version 1 | should be applied to the new device. Excptionally, when using the dvice in a VPC configuration, the firmware version should be the same as its VPC peer-device. Therefore, please check the firmware version of the VPC peer- device beforehand. Temporal mismatch of the firmware versions between the VPC peer devices during the replacement work are allowed. { ¢ ] The model name printed on the front panel may be *ET-******-FOS* or 1 | sruyrtsu pswitcy *****" depending on the manufacturing period, but they are the same product and can be replaced. IF the device is used in a VPC configuration, it should also be noted that communication through VPC interfaces can temporally be lost by the July/2022 241 FUJITSU PSWITCH User's Guide following action. You should avoid any critical network traffic during the replacement work. ‘* When removing VPC peer link, traffic may stop about three seconds. * When connecting VPC peer link, traffic may stop about fifteen seconds. In the following explanation, itis assumed that a terminal PC (referred to as ‘FST-S') is used, which has a file transfer service, and stores configuration files and necessary firmware images, and so on. 1. [For System Administrator] Confirm the switch configuration and back it up, or make sure that the switch configuration has already been backed up. You must back up startup-config, and any of three optional configurations you need. If you are not sure which configurations are used, we recommend backing up all of them. Additionally, please make sure that all the necessary settings in the running configuration is stored before backup. ) If there is no backup file, you must restore each setting one by one. After backup, delete all the device setting data from the switch using clear config command and clear logging persistent command. [How to delete device setting data] 1. Delete first-config, second-config, and third-config. clear config First-config fre you sure you want to clear the configuration? Plug out power cables from power connectors and power off the switch. > Plug out power cables referring to “2.1.4 Connection to Power Sources". 3. Remove all the network cables from the switch ports. » Considering the restoration, please remember where each cable is connected. 4. To reduce the weight of the device, remove the both power supply units form the failed device. 5. How to Replace FAN Units (FRU: Field- ) This switch has three FAN units. The FAN units are not redundant, and does not support hot swapping. When you exchange a FAN unit, you must plug out the power cable and power off the switch. Replaceable Uni In the following explanation, it is assumed that a terminal PC (referred to as “FST-S") is used to check the FAN unit status after replacement. 1. Plug out power cables from power connectors and power off the switch. > Plug out power cables referting to “2.1.4 Connection to Power Sources’. 2. Hold the handle of the FAN unit with lock released, and pull out the FAN unit. > Before replacing FAN units, please confirm that the device is properly fixed to the rack. 3. Replace Fan unit with a spare part. 4. Connect the device to the terminal PC (FST-S) with a serial cable. July/2022 247
