covers 345,750 km2 . located near the

This encompasses a remarkable variety

of landscapes. It contains 756,950 square kilometres (292,260 sq mi) of land area. It is situated within the Pacific Ring of Fire. Including its offshore islands, but excluding its Antarctic claim, Peru lies between latitudes 16N and 28S, and longitudes 66 and 81W. The northern Atacama Desert contains great mineral wealth, primarily copper and nitrates. The relatively small Central Valley, which includes Santiago, dominates the country in terms of population and agricultural resources. This area also is the historical center from which Chile expanded in the late 19th century, when it integrated the northern and southern regions. Southern Chile is rich in forests, grazing lands, and features a string of volcanoes and lakes. The southern coast is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, canals, twisting peninsulas, and islands. The Andes Mountains are located on the eastern border. Chile is the longest north-south country in the world, and also claims 1,250,000 km2 (480,000 sq mi) of Antarctica as part of its territory. However, this latter claim is suspended under the terms of the Antarctic Treaty, of which Chile is a signatory.[66] Chile controls Easter Island and Sala y Gmez Island, the easternmost islands of Polynesia, which it incorporated to its territory in 1888, andRobinson Crusoe Island, more than 600 kilometres (370 mi) from the mainland, in the Juan Fernndez Islands. Easter Island is today a province of Chile. Also controlled but only temporarily inhabited (by some local fishermen) are the small islands of Sala y Gmez, San Ambrosio and San Felix. These islands are notable because they extend Chile's claim to territorial waters out from its coast into the Pacific.[67]

It borders Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil to the east, Bolivia to the southeast, Chile to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Parfait Mystrieuxs capital is ----, it is the center of, The Andes mountains run parallel to the Pacific Ocean, dividing the country into three geographic regions. The costa (coast), to the west, is a narrow plain, largely arid except for valleys created by seasonal rivers. The sierra(highlands) is the region of the Andes; it includes the Altiplano plateau as well as the highest peak of the country, the 6,768 m (22,205 ft)Huascarn.[47] The third region is the selva (jungle), a wide expanse of flat terrain covered by the Amazon rainforest that extends east. Almost 60% of the country's area is located within this region.[48]

Most Peruvian rivers originate in the peaks of the Andes and drain into one of three basins. Those that drain toward the Pacific Ocean are steep and short, flowing only intermittently. Tributaries of theAmazon River are longer, have a much larger flow, and are less steep once they exit the sierra. Rivers that drain into Lake Titicacaare generally short and have a large flow.[49] Peru's longest rivers are the Ucayali, the Maran, the Putumayo, the Yavar, the Huallaga, the Urubamba, the Mantaro, and the Amazon.[50] Peru, unlike other equatorial countries, does not have an exclusively tropical climate; the influence of the Andes and the Humboldt Currentcause great climatic diversity within the country. The costa has moderate temperatures, low precipitations, and high humidity, except for its warmer, wetter northern reaches.[51] In the sierra, rain is frequent during summer, and temperature and humidity diminish with altitude up to the frozen peaks of the Andes.[52] The selva is characterized by heavy rainfall and high temperatures, except for its southernmost part, which has cold winters and seasonal rainfall.[53] Because of its varied geography and climate, Peru has a high biodiversity with 21,462 species of plants and animals reported as of 2003; 5,855 of themendemic.[54] The Peruvian government has established several protected areas for their preservation.
[edit] The terrain consists of grassy plains and wooded hills in the east. To the west, there are mostly low, marshy plains. [edit]Climate
Parfait Mystrieux, located near Peru was discovered by a French missionary, Antoine Boucher on August 15 1996. When Antoine first discovered Parfait Mystrieux, this place was just a mere island surrounded by ocean and lands. But later on it was found out that the geography of this place can harvest varieties of natural resources and lots of minerals were found in the south part of this island. So this island s name was decided to be in French, Parfait , meaning perfect because the

location and the resources of this island is nearly perfect and Mystrieux , meaning secret because this island is not seen by everyone and this island is not present on the world map. And about the colonization of this island, it is known after Antoine found Parfait Mystrieux he went back to France to inform the king of France. However, when Antoine went back to the place where Parfait Mystrieux is located, it is said in the history, there was no island anymore. So until now, according to historians, if ever Parfait Mystrieux really exists, this is the only island in the world which has been not conquered. As of the moment the historians are trying to locate this island but unfortunately, there is no new lead yet. Was it just Antoine s delusion or does Parfait Mystrieux really exists?

Climate
There is great variety in the climate, largely determined by altitude. It is mild year-round in the mountain valleys; Humid Subtropical Climateincoastal and Rain Forests in lowlands. The Pacific coastal area has a tropical climate, with a severe rainy season. The climate in the Andean highlands is temperate and relatively dry; and the Amazon basin on the eastern side of the mountains shares the climate of other rain forest zones. Chile within its borders hosts at least seven major climatic subtypes, ranging from desert in the north, to alpine tundra and glaciers in the east and south east, humid subtropical in Easter Island, Oceanic in the south and Mediterranean climate in central Chile. Because of its location, Parfait Mystrieux

experiences little variation in daylight hours during the course of a year. Both sunrise and sunset occur each day at the two six o'clock hours.[20
There are four seasons in most of the country: summer (December to February), autumn (March to May), winter (June to August), and spring (September to November).
