Wind Ensemble Transposition Chart

This document provides a circle of 4ths scale sheet showing the order of flats and sharps. It includes instructions for different instruments on how to find their concert pitch when the director calls out a scale name. Percussion, flute, oboe, bassoon, trombone, baritone BC, and tuba find the scale name on the left side. Alto sax and bari sax go up three from the scale name. Horn goes up one. Trumpet, clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor sax, and baritone TC go up two.

Percussion, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Trombone, Baritone BC, and Tuba — Find the scale name
that your director calls out. It is underlined, bold, italicized, and on the left side of the page. This
is your concert pitch. To play a scale, read the page from left to right. The arpeggio notes are in
bold.

Alto and Bari Sax — Find the scale name that your director calls out. It is underlined, bold,
italicized, and located on the left side of the page. GO UP THREE. This is your concert pitch.
For example: if the director calls out “Bb concert,” located “Bb” on the left side of the page, then
go up three to “G.” This is your concert pitch. To play a scale, read the page from left to right.
The arpeggio notes are in bold.

Horn — Find the scale name that your director calls out. It is underlined, in bold, italicized, and
located on the left side of the page. GO UP ONE. This is your concert pitch. For example: if the
director calls out “Bb concert,” located “Bb” on the left side of the page, then go up on to “F.
This is your concert pitch. To play a scale, read the page from left to right. The arpeggio notes
