MAIN ARGUMENT

 Alfred McCoy with Alfredo Roces put together a compendium of political cartoons published in
newspaper dailies and periodicals in the book called, Philippine Cartoons: Political
Caricature of the American Era (1900-1941)
 
 The book of McCoy and Roces (1986) was the first one to legitimize
cartoons as sources of Filipino’s thoughts and views.
 two cartoon themes: anti-American sentiments and the condemnation of the ruling class.
 The popularity of cartoons has risen throughout the years. Political cartoons serve as primers for
engaging in the prevailing opinions of that time.
 Political cartoon becomes the representation of the current conditions of our country as it let us
see the problem.

day's events. They can explain and analyze stories in ways that articles cannot.
 Political cartoon capture the distinct human nature of their subjects in order to personalize the
topic they depict more effectively than words or video.
