Am I still INFECTIOUS
after 10 days of quarantine?

Let’s understand the life cycle of Covid-19 virus in a human body.

The course of the Covid-19 infection can be divided into incubation, infectious and
post-infectious (no longer infectious) periods.

Compared to Wuhan variant, the incubation of Delta variant may be as short

as 3 to 5 days or up to 14 days.

An infected person is highly infectious 2 days before and after his or her first
symptoms (see chart above).
During this time the PCR test will show a low CT value (indicating large quantity of
virus) and the RTK saliva testing will be positive.

IMPORTANT POINTS
TO REMEMBER :

In a FULLY VACCIANTED PERSON,

viral shedding will become minimal 10 days after the
initial symptoms. An infected person is considered
no longer infectious after this point.
Therefore, a repeat PCR test is not necessary before
you can go back to work or mix with others.

HOWEVER,
Prolonged virus shedding might occur in
UNVACCINATED individuals;
People with weak immune system (chronic kidney
disease, active cancer, autoimmune disease etc.)

They may need to undergo a longer quarantine

period following medical advice.

Why am I
STILL NOT OKAY
after 10 days of quarantine?

Your symptoms might not

be fully resolved after 10 days of
quarantine.

Some people take a longer time to

recover, depending on age, pre-
existing medical conditions and
Covid-19 disease severity.

Always consult a doctor if you are

still feeling unwell even after
completion of your quarantine
period.

Why do I still get infected
despite completion of vaccination?

Protection acquired through immunisation

may decline over time.

DELTA variant is highly contagious and

spreads very fast. It is capable of
overcoming the immune protection
conferred by the vaccines.

Vaccines are not 100% effective

in preventing infection.
However, they work very well
against death, severe disease
and hospitalisation.

Am I at risk of
RE-INFECTION ?

Risk of re-infection within

the next 3 to 6 months is
uncommon but still possible.

Similar to vaccinated individuals,

immunity acquired from natural
infection decreases over time.
So, it is important to continue
practising SOPs even after you have
recovered from Covid-19 infection.

How to keep
my house and workplace
COVID-FREE ?

COVID-19 virus is primarily AIRBORNE,

but droplet transmission still occurs.
Virus-laden droplets exhaled from infected individuals may fall to the
ground or other surfaces within seconds. The virus can survive on
these surfaces for up to a few days depending on the surface types
and environmental factors.

So, it is still important to clean the common areas and

surfaces regularly with household detergents or
home-made disinfectants (bleach : water in 1:10 parts).

Always remember to keep your house and workplace well-

ventilated. Consider installing HEPA filters and exhaust fans
to improve airflow and ventilation.

Professional sanitisation services are optional.
