A top problems facing the current generation. Now
more than ever strategies are needed to protect the
environment orto protect products that are not harmful to
the environment, Natural bers have received much atention
as potential alternative replacements for syathelic fibers,
because oftheir properties as reinforcement of various resins
for advanced applications, such as: low density, high specific
strength and they are renewable, durable and environmentally
ftiendly 1,2, 3. Natural fibers have unigue characteristics,
such as: low cost, abundant availability and their renewable
resources absorb carbon dioxide, which reduces environ:
mental pollution, During processing, natural fibers do not
generate any harmful gases and they are not abrasive for
processing equipment. The main concern of natural fibers is
their hereditary hydrophilic character and they are highly
flammable which limits their suecess in polymer reinforce-

primarily based polymer composites are uncommon. ‘The
presence of SiC particulate as filler in the composite can signifi-
cantly enhance the compressive strength, tensile strength and
‘wear resistance of aluminum hybrid composite
In tis paper, hybrid natural fiber reinforced epoxy matrix
‘composites were fabricated using hand lay-up technique with
different weight percentage of hybrid bers and SiC particu-
latesasa filler have been studied and their mechanical proper
ties such as tensile strength, and flexural strength have been
reported. Itis observed that the tensile and flexural strength
increases with hybrid fiber reinforcement due to SiC particu
lates asa filler. Failure mechanism of hybrid fiber composites
has been discussed using scanning electron microscopy.
fiber dispersion, An important research has been done on the
surface treatment of natural fibers to overcome these limita-
tions [1, 2.4, 5]. It can be argued that a tremendous success
hhas been achieved on the surface treatment of natural fibers
to improve the averall properties of composite materials
discussed in these review studies (1, 2, 4, 5]. Synthetic /
synthetic fibers are worth, however, of particular interest due
to their superior properties compared to natural fibers, Itis
believed that various aspects such as growth conditions,
harvesting methods and maturation often affect natural fiber
properties. Limitations of synthetic fibers include their accu-
‘mulation in environmental and / or landfill site, high costs
and they are derived from finite resources, ie. Fossil Fuels 1
Processing of fossil fuels alone produces various gases (egCO;,
‘methane, nitrous oxide and many others), which contribute
to unwanted environmental pollution, In addition, during
overall production, harmful gases are released, which causes
terrible diseases, eg. Cancer and again, they can be abrasive
to processing equipment. On the other hand, synthetic fibers
have a longer lifespan, providing greater advantages towards
