Tow-Tester

Using this tester you can easily find out if the car wiring is faulty (blown
fuse, broken wire, etc.), or if  the caravan/trailer is faulty(broken lamp,
wire, etc).

The first thing to do is find out what plug is used and the pins
function(what light it supplies etc.)

12 Volt Normal 7 Pin Trailer Lighting Connections. 12N Wiring Code.

Pin 1 Yellow wire - L/H Indicator Lamp

Pin 2     Blue wire - Rear Fog Lamps

Pin 3   White wire - Earth Return

Pin 4  Green wire - R/H Indicator Lamp

Pin 5 Brown wire - R/H Tail and Number Plate Lamp

Pin 6     Red wire - Stop Lamps

Pin 7   Black wire - L/H Tail and Number Plate Lamp

12 Volt Supplementary 7 Pin Caravan Connections. 12S Wiring Code.

Pin 1 Yellow wire - Reversing Lamps

Pin 2     Blue wire - Battery Charging

Pin 3   White wire - Earth Return

Pin 4  Green wire - Power Supply

Pin 5 Brown wire - Sensing Device

Pin 6     Red wire - Fridge

Pin 7  Black wire - Spare

The Code we need is the First One (12N Wiring Code) as this is for the
Lights. Then we need to put Six Lamps in a box and Wire these to a Plug
as in Circuit Diagram below.
In the Above Circuit Diagram. LED's D1 - D6 are Used as Lamps (Chosen
because of there Size and High Reliability) to Represent Each of the Lighting
Circuits, each Led as a Current Limiting Resistor R1 to R6 to Limit the Current
to around 15mA. D7 is used to provide Reverse Polarity protection for the
LED's. seven core trailer cable then Connects to a 12N Plug.
