1 Introduction
ACS800 software is composed of several components.
These components are downloaded to the RMIO-board by means of the MS-DOS batch program,
which is called: Loading Package.
2 Loading Packages
Programming of the RMIO-card requires first the identification of the software, which is to be
loaded into the FLASH-memory. There are available different loading package for different kind of
applications. For Example:
3.1 PC Requirements
Loading package can be downloaded to the RMIO-board by means of the 486 or Pentium PC,
which have Windows 3.x, Windows NT 4.x or Windows XP and DOS operating system 6.0 or later.
DDCS communication board NISA-xx or NDPA-XX PCMCIA card is needed in the PC for RMIO-
communication.

NISA-xx card must be placed to PC ISA-bus connector. Connect the fibre optic cable between the
channel CH0 (5MHz optical components) of the NISA-xx and channel CH3 connector on RDCO-
board of the RMIO-card channel. The transmitters and receivers should match.

NDPA-01/02 PCMCIA card is placed to PCMCIA slot. It must be a type equipped with 5 MHz fibre
optical components (example type NDPA-02 with DDCS/PC CARD CABLE NDPC-02 or older
type NDPA-01, if available).
When using a PCMCIA board, the PC must be in DOS-mode. It cannot function in Windows 95 or
Windows NT machines.
Upon startup the following line must be in the autoexec.bat or entered in Dos-prompt:
SET ABBDDCS=PCMCIA
The letters must be in all CAPS! Verify this by typing SET at the dos prompt to verify this setting.
This program creates/updates the PCMCIA.INF file. If INIT.EXE is executed from the C:\ -root,
also the PCMCIA.INF file will be located in the C:\ -root. If executed from somewhere else, the
PCMCIA.INF file must manually be copied to the C:\ -root.

Loading package is used in DOS-prompt. NTNISA program must be executed in order to release
the I/O control for DOS-program.
LapTop
In order to define I/O-address of NDPA-xx PCMCIA board follow the instructions:
1. The NDPA-xx PCMCIA board is NOT installed. Open Dos-prompt and execute
NISADUMP.EXE.
2. Then install the NDPA-xx PCMCIA board and execute NISADUMP.EXE again. Compare
results of the NISADUMP.TXT files to see the base I/O Base addresses, which are used by
PCMCIA-board. First I/O Port, which data is changed from FF. This is the IO-base address of
the NDPA-board.
The file PCMCIA.INF is created on the current directory. That file must be moved to the root
directory C:\.
4. NTNISA program must be executed in order to release the I/O control for DOS-program.
SET ABBDDCS=PCMCIA
2. The power to the RMIO board comes typically from the RINT-card connector X-X. Verify the
RMIO power is on by looking on the RMIO-card led V22 power. The power supply should read
when measured between 22 - 26 volts DC.
3. Copy loading package file to empty directory. Go to the directory where the file was copied and
open the zip-file by pkunzip or WinZip-program.
Note! With pkunzip you must recurse the subdirectories, thus a typical command line would
read: PKUNZIP -D AMXX5100.ZIP.
This will result in numerous subdirectories being created which contain the previous
mentioned.
4. Before the starting of loading procedure, check the HW type of the drive and RMIO-xx board
type. There is list of the loading command according the inverter type in Appendix 2.
5. In order to start downloading program, the loading command must be entered in DOS-prompt:
LOADING COMMANDS
Command line is :
L_ACS xyzzzz_w where
x = Hardware type: s = SingleDrive HW,
n = MultiDrive HW,
m = ACS800-11/-31/-17/-37,
lc *)= liquid cooled Multidrive HW,
ls *)= liquid cooled Singledrive HW,
y = Board type: r = RMIO-0x/1x in ACS800, f = RMIO-02 in ACS600
zzzz = kVA value of inverter
w = Voltage class of the inverter

7. You can now remove the power from the RMIO card and remove the fibre optics from CH3 on
RDCO.
4 Troubleshooting
There are a couple of errors, which may occur during this loading process, these are listed here
with some hints on corrective actions:
BOOTINT:
Forbid boot to load operating system code automatically
.............................
Resolution
1. Verify the optic fibres are good by viewing the end of the fibre optic cable at the start of the
download routine. The fibre optic, which plugs into the Rx connector on the RMIO, should
have an LED light being pulsed.
2. Reset the PC by switching power OFF and ON. Do not start DriveWindow sw. Initialisation of
PC returns correct communication parameters to the NISA-board.
3. If this fails, do not interrupt the downloading sw in PC. Do a reset to the RMIO card by
removing the X14 connector (POWER) and reconnecting.
4. If this fails and you are using an NISA-xx card, replace the RMIO board.

Resolution
1. Verify that loading package is extracted properly to the directory. All sub-directories must exist.
2. Verify that inverter type is given correctly.
3. Check that there are not files in loading package in READ ONLY -mode. This may happen if
files are copied to CD-rom.
