Text: Exodus 20:1-2 (KJV)

And God spoke all these words, saying, I am

the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Subject: What was our condition before accepting God as our
redeemer?

Compliment: Before accepting God, We were in a house of bondage,

in the land of Egypt “Land of no God” (Land of sinfulness)

Idea: Our conditions before having God in our lives were

full of sins and burdens.

Explain: This chapter of the book of Exodus, chapter 20 is the

tangible Law of Israel, and is well known throughout the world.
God knows that Israel is afflicted and suffered in slavery. There
is no power can overthrow the power of slavery and so the hand of
God is needed to lead people going out from this hell-like
situation.

Prove: “God (elohim) spoke all these words” (debarim)(v. 1). Two

facts suggest that God speaks these words directly to the people
rather than through Moses. First, the people are assembled at the
foot of the mountain (19:17). Second, after God gives the
words/commandments, the people become afraid and say to Moses,
“Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but don’t let God
speak with us, lest we die” (20:19). and, by implication, the
Israelites identity (God’s people). Yahweh also reminds them of
their recent salvation history—he brought them out of Egyptian
slavery.

Apply: God provides a very good reminder, saying, “I am the one who
saved you from bondage”. What was your life like before you were
saved? Were you hopeless? Full of despair? Swallowing in dirt and
filth? Then, rejoice! For God has set you free! There is an
attitude of gratitude that is expected here – there is a respect
and honor due our savior which leads us to the next verse.

KIAS: God is the only God, and no other object of worship is to be

tolerated for a moment. Just always remember that we are slave!

I am the Lord thy God.

This verse does not contain the first of these commands, their
covenant God, in a special and peculiar manner, their King and
their God, they being a Theocracy, and so more immediately under
his government, and therefore had laws given them preferable to
what any other people had:

which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt:

where they had been afflicted many years, and reduced to great
distress, but were brought forth with an high hand, and with
great riches, and in a very wonderful and miraculous manner; so
that they were under great obligations to yield a ready and
cheerful obedience to the will of God:

Out of the house of bondage: this means that Israel was in

bondage in other words enslave or "servants" that is, where they
had been servants and slaves, a kingdom of themselves, under
their Lord, King, Lawgiver, and Savior, Jehovah himself, and
therefore to be governed by laws of his enacting; and this shows
that this body of laws was delivered out to the people of Israel,
and primarily belong to them; for of no other can the above
things be said.

Conclusion: We don’t have any advantage of ourselves and our condition

is so pitiful. Ignorant! Arrogant! And the worst is we are enemy
of God as far as our transgression is concern. But here comes now
God offering His compassion. "We trust the Lord is on our side,
Mr. Lincoln," said the speaker of a delegation of Christian
people to that good man, during one of the darkest days of the
American Civil War. "I do not regard that as so essential as
something else;" replied Mr. Lincoln. The worthy visitors looked
horror-struck, until the President added: "I am most concerned to
know that we are on the Lord's side."
Mr. Lincoln was right. The right side is not my side or your
side. The Lord's side is the right side.
God bless everybody and Good evening. Thank you 

Introduction: Good evening everybody. Thank you so much for adding me here
in your GC and thank you also for your kindness. And you
know what? I am so happy to be part of this group even in a
short very time (HEHEHE). Hmmm I would like also to thank
the admins for giving me this opportunity to give you a
message.

So tonight, I would like you to know that unknowingly you’re

so boastful and even making yourself an enemy to God. Ho? by
not knowing what you are before. By not recognizing your
need and by not knowing that you don’t know.
