1) How will Internet2 benefit current Internet users?
Internet2 is an interconnected network of high-performance networks that is both domestic and
international in scope. Its members are able to engage and develop network applications in ways
that are not conceivable on the standard Internet. Internet2 connects hundreds of member
research universities, linked organisations (like Merit), and business partners, supporting
substantial advancements in networking capabilities for the scientific and educational communities.
Future networks are predicted by network specialists to match the reliability and speed of
Internet2.
The advantages of using Internet2 nowadays include:
a. the capacity to transfer vast amounts of research data in a timely and predictable manner
b. control of distant scientific apparatus in real time
c. operating a grid of distant computer clusters such that consumers perceive them as a single
device
d. collaboration in the creation of performance art, such as music or dance
e. Real-time video communication and access to interactive video materials of the highest
caliber
f. distributed shared file storage
g. access to computing systems with high performance
h. the capacity to conduct data mining
i. access to high-quality images, audio, and video resources from the digital library
j. Opportunities to collaborate with other member institutions' researchers, academics, staff,
and students who use Interent2
2) Is Internet2 a separate network and will it replace the current commercial Internet?
The Internet will not be replaced by Internet2, which is not a distinct physical network. In order to
create new technologies and capabilities that can be implemented across the global Internet,
Internet2 brings together organisations and resources from academia, business, and government.
Working closely with Internet2 industry participants guarantees quick public adoption of innovative
apps and technology. The legacy of Internet2 will be to increase the potential of the wider Internet
in the future, much like email and the World Wide Web are products of earlier investments in
academic and governmental research networks.
3) What kind of technology will be needed to use the advanced Internet applications and
technologies?
All of the cutting-edge network service technologies required to serve next-generation applications
should be developed and demonstrated by the NGI programme. Enterprise architecture is changing
as networking-dependent technological factors become more and more dominant. For instance,
enhanced connection and differentiating networking are needed for automation, serverless
computing, growing volumes of shared data, and sensors. CIOs have started building connectivity
strategies that complement their larger digital agendas as part of the expanding trend toward
connectivity of the future. They are looking at ways to build secure, controllable networks with the
capacity to make use of distributed computing power using software-defined networking (SDN),
network function virtualization (NFV), and network slicing.
4) What are some of Internet2’s long-term goals?
Accelerating the adoption of cutting-edge Internet technologies, particularly in the commercial
sector, is a key goal of advanced generation networks. Members of the educational community
outside of universities, particularly those in K–12 and public libraries, will gain from Internet2.
The members of Internet2 and themselves want to share their knowledge with as many different
computer users as they can. The early Internet was built using this methodology, and it still applies
today. The goal of the Internet2 Project is to "facilitate and coordinate the development,
deployment, operation, and technology transfer of advanced, network-based applications and
network services to advance U.S. leadership in research and higher education and accelerate the
availability of new services and applications on the Internet." Application developers will improve
existing applications and produce applications that weren't previously possible as a result of
quality-of-service functionality. On an end-to-end basis, Internet2 (I2) will guarantee that
applications have the network resources they need. The ultimate objective, however, goes beyond
setting up a network or deploying certain apps; instead, we aim to create a distributed knowledge
system in order to achieve advancements in research, education, and learning.

5) Describe how a VPN connection using IP tunneling allows company employees in remote
locations to send sensitive information to company computers.
