AUSTRALIA

 In 1788, Captain Arthur Phillip landed in Port Jackson, where today there is
Sydney. The date of his arrival, January 2, is celebrated with celebrations across the
country and is named Australia Day.

 It is believed that indigenous people had been living on this land approximately 50.000
years before the arrival of the British. They formed 250 individual Aboriginal nations.

 The country is an independent member of the United Kingdom of England and


is governed by a system of constitutional monarchy with a division of federal
power.

 Currently Australia's prime minister is Julia Gillard. As in Brazil, in Australia


the vote is mandatory and the citizen who does not vote can pay a fine if he does
not present a justification.

 The symbol of the country is a flower named acacia


 It has more than 10.000 beaches in the country
 Outback it´s the name of the main vegetation and the restaurants inspired on the
food of Australia
 It has more sheep than people in there
 It is one of the most multicultural country in the world
 It´s a tradition eat kangaroo´s meat
 Melbourne it´s one of the best city to live
 It was one of the firsts country to allow the vote of women
 It shelter the biggest barrier of corals
 It isn’t allowed alcoholic drink in public
