DSTV Frequency Set Up Guide Version 8

SINGLE VIEW, DUAL VIEW AND SD PVR ONLY (VERSION 8) - EXLUDES SINGLE VIEW HD
These settings will only work on Single View, Dual View and SD PVR decoders.

1 With your DSTV remote,

Press the MENU button
Scroll down with the down arrow to "Advanced Options" and press "OK"
Select item 1 "Dish Installation" and press "OK"
New screen will prompt for a Pin Code - enter 9949 with the keypad on your DSTV remote

2 The "Dish Installation" screen will now be displayed.

Scroll to Network 2 which shows "Disabled"
Press right arrow to change that to "DSTV IS20"
Press "OK" to display a new screen giving details of the Network 2
Scroll down to "Frequency", press "OK"
Using the left arrow, delete the displayed frequency and replace with 11210, using the
keypad on the remote
Press "OK"
Scroll down to "Symbol Rate", press "OK"
Using the left arrow, delete the displayed Symbol rate and replace with 30000
Press "OK"
Go to "Use NIT" and by pressing the right arrow change this to "SMATV"
Go down to "Accept all displayed values and leave screen". Press "OK"

3 The "Dish Installation" screen will again be displayed.

Repeat step 2 above for each Network 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 with the following changes:

4 The "Dish Installation" screen will once again be displayed.

Go to "Scan All Networks" and press "OK"

The Scan should start immediately and collect all your channels.
If the scan starts, but does not continue -
Press the "Menu" button and scroll down to "Scan All Networks" and press "OK"
This will start the scan again and should solve this problem.

HD PVR ONLY - HD 4 Tuner and HD2 (VERSION 8)
These settings will only work on HD PVR DECODERS.

1 With your DSTV remote,

Press the MENU button.
Using the circular scroll arrows select "Advanced Options" and press "OK".
New screen will prompt for a Pin Code - enter 9949 with the keypad on your DSTV remote.

2 The "Advanced Options" screen will now be displayed.

Select "1.Network Set-up" and press "OK".
The "Network Set-up/Home Network" screen will now be displayed.
DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS ON THIS "HOME NETWORK" SCREEN.
3 Press the "P+" button on your remote.
The "Network Set-up/Additional Network 1" screen will now be displayed.
Press right arrow to change "1.Signal set-up - Disabled" to "Enabled".
Scroll down to "2.Use NIT" and press right arrow to change to "SMATV".
Scroll down to "3.Network Frequency" and use the left arrow to delete the displayed frequency
and replace with 11210, using the keypad on the bottom of the remote.
Scroll down to "4.Symbol Rate" and use the left arrow to delete this and replace with 30000.
Please check the table below and change"5.FEC" to the correct value.
Do not change anything for "6.Polarisation".
Please check the table below and change"7.Modulation" to the correct value.
Repeat step 3 above for each Additional Network 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12
with the following changes:

4 Once all the Additional Networks have been set, press the YELLOW button on your remote.
This will "Scan all Enabled Networks"
An "Installation Scan" screen will now be displayed and your decoder will collect all of the channels.

DSTV EXPLORA and SINGLE VIEW HD MODEL 4U ONLY (VERSION 8)
These settings will only work on EXPLORA and SINGLE VIEW HD DECODERS.

1 Connect your Satellite cable from the wall directly into the UNICABLE IN connector on the back of the
decoder (EXPLORA) or LNB IN (SINGLE VIEW HD). DO NOT CONNECT THE EXPLORA SWITCH (EXPLORA).
2 Plug the power supply into the decoder.
3 The DSTV INSTALLATION WIZARD screen will appear showing STEP 1 of 4.
4 Press OK to select NEXT STEP.
5 STEP 2 of 4 will appear - DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING HERE.
6 Press OK to select NEXT STEP.
7 STEP 3 of 4 will appear.
8 Use the DOWN ARROW to highlight LNB Type and then press the RIGHT ARROW to select SMATV.
9 Press the DOWN ARROW twice to select Scan and then press OK.
10 If an error message appears saying that the Signal is too low - just press OK on the remote to continue.
11 STEP 4 of 4 will appear and the decoder will start to scan the networks.
12 Eventually, channel 100 will appear but you will not be able to select any other channels yet.

13 Press OK on channel 100 to get into DSTV Central.

14 Use the Arrowed buttons on your remote to select Settings
and then select Satellite Settings
and then Press OK on Home Network.
The next part of this procedure is a bit tricky and will require some good concentration!
Do not change LNB Type - SMATV or Satellite - IS20
All the Frequencies with a 'V' next to them must be left UNCHANGED.
All the Frequencies with an 'H' next to them must be CHANGED.
15 Use the Down Arrow to select the first 'H' Frequency listed (11474 H 5/6 DVB-S).
16 With your remote keypad, type in 10930 and then press the DOWN ARROW.
A Notification will appear saying 'SMATV binding was successful'. Press the 'BACK' button.
If it says 'SMATV binding failed' then please check the frequency again - there may be a mismatch or a typo.
Do the same for all the frequencies listed:

17 Press the Down Arrow to select 'Scan All' and press 'OK'
Once the scan completes, you will be on channel 100.
18 To select another channel, first type '101' with the remote keypad to select Mnet
and then you can use P+ or - to select.
If you get an error message saying that there is a Smart Card Pairing Issue - contact
Multichoice to get activated on 011 289 2222!
