REFLECTIVE ESSAY

1.During this COVID19 pandemic, what do you think is the importance of physical activities in
your own personal life?

They say life is filled with suffering but I know socializing could at least make living
bearable. The pandemic isn't over yet. COVID-19 is now synonymous to isolation, a huge threat
to something that make us humans – our emotions. The humanity has to endure feelings of
loneliness and emptiness which when left ignored may trigger stress and other challenges to
our mental health. For the record, I am not an exemption to this. The COVID-19 pandemic really
is a depressing phase of my life and truth be told, maybe everyone else's. Also, it taught me this
one thing.

When I witnessed how even the healthy-looking ones got struck by such deadly virus,
when those who survived its severe pain told the world of horrific stories from the trauma it
has caused them, I pondered, what more could it do to the people who practice unhealthy
lifestyle who likewise cannot afford to be hospitalized? By then, anxiety hit me like an ice-cold
water. I realized I had to do something to keep me busy, away from unnecessary what ifs and
the likes. Physical activity, indoors or outdoors, have helped me clear my mind and gave me a
sense of direction in this puzzling phase of my life. Being physically active allowed my body to
grow each and everyday despite the sudden change in lifestyle everyone had to face. It sufficed
the gap the pandemic has caused in my social life. With this new sense of direction, I learned to
adapt and have regained the relationships I lost control on. Physical activity had put me in a
positive state in all aspects of life.

2.What are the ways that you are doing in order to cope effectively in this pandemic
situation? Explain your answer.

My solid agenda in life was always to set my priorities straight. Knowing fully that the
present crisis targets our health and that as days pass by I only grow older, I try to live healthy
by slowly but surely decreasing my junk food intake and doing exercises on my free time. I did
research on how I can better prepare for more days to come considering our situation.
Furthermore, because education is recognized as an extremely important part of life of people
at my age, I promised myself to give my all in doing my responsibilities for my good and for the
sake of those who supports me. An excellent work leaves me with no regret, therefore, lesser
chances of anxious nights.

3. What do you think is the significance of physical fitness testing in your own personal life,
most especially during this time of pandemic?

It’s no secret that prevention is better than cure. Everyday is a learning process where
our curiosity would drive us to do something new, or perhaps challenging. However, no matter
how determined a person may be, especially after longer periods of physical inactivity, there’s
always a limit to what he or she can do. There were days I would think I could do heavy
exercises but in reality, it’s too hard for me. During the pandemic, I lost too much weight and
became a lot weaker. With regular physical fitness testing, it could’ve been prevented.
Although it is impossible to turn back time, physical fitness testing gives chance to everyone,
like a bridge connecting an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one. Physical fitness testing can help
me assess my body needs and guide me properly on my physical fitness journey. It tells us what
we can’t do, what we can do, and in what ways can we do better.
