Book Review Guidelines

Student has to do full analysis of the given book in the prescribed format:

1. Read the entire book thoroughly.


2. As you read, take notes in your own words.
3. Note the following :
 What is the central issue the book addresses?
 How is the book organized to support the thesis thematically?
 Critical Analysis of the book.
Are you convinced by the book? Why or Why not.
4. Write down the author’s information – Basic Biographical information about
editors of the book.
5. Who are they, what are they known for, qualifications and expertise.
6. Volume and edition, Publisher’s details, Awards if any for the book.

Submission –

1. Hard copy of full book review needs to be submitted to the respective SIP
guides in the first week of November.
2. Each student has to give presentation (speech form) of their allotted book
in the below format

The book review format includes an introduction, body, and conclusion.

1. Introduction

 Describe the book cover and title.

 Describe all chapters and its main idea.

 Include the Author’s Name.

2. Thesis

 Write a brief description of the book.

 Briefly introduce the main points of the body in your book review.

 Avoid mentioning any opinions at this time.


3. Body

 Use about 3 quotations from the author’s book.

 Summarise the quotations in your own words.

 Mention your own point-of-view of the quotation.

 Remember to keep every point included in its own paragraph.

4. Conclusion

 In brief, summarize the quotations.

 In brief, summarize the explanations.

 Finish with a concluding sentence.

 This can include your final opinion of the book.
