• Reliable,
• Scalable,
• Cost Effective
Platform For Object Storage

Cloud Object Storage has the strengths and differentiators clients require

Scalability – Scale performance and/or capacity at any time with no downtime to

operations

Security - Encryption for data at rest provides government grade security, no single
disk, node or site contains enough information to constitute a data breach with built in
key management.
Availability – No downtime during software upgrades, hardware refreshes, and in the
face of disk, node, and site failures.

Manageability– No RAID sets or replication schemes to manage. Manage more

petabytes with less people.

Efficiency – Less raw storage means less power, cooling and floors pace resulting in
lowest TCO

• Always-on availability – SLA of 100% download on demand – even during CA to Nevada datacenter
move
• Manageability – 3 Administrators manage entire environment
• Economics – Operating costs reduced by more than 70%
• Key decision makers – Technical team backed by financial cost cutting mandates

• Scale: 25PB serving 10M mobile - Service is now expanding to deliver enterprise services
for mail and storage on demand.
• Security: Main driver and requirement for the customer
• Availability: 24x 7 availability.
• Economics: a reliable 80% savings means that KDDI can expand its business profitably
without IT in the way.
• Key Decision Makers: Technical teams

Cloud Object Storage opportunities

Ask probing questions Listen for revealing statements

Do you have What challenges do We are concerned We have to

unstructured data you face scaling and our NAS won’t scale renew/refresh our
that is over 500TB in managing Petabytes economically to meet Isilon/NTAP & wonder
size and growing? of storage? our growth if there is a better way

Would you consider a Are you familiar with We have a ton of

private cloud for Object Storage and video and image files Our unstructured data
storage that is more its benefits for that consume a is outpacing our
economical than public scalability and massive amount of storage budget
cloud? availability? storage

Is your RAID, Is your tape archive We’re looking at

replication and backup meeting SLAs? moving a tier of We need to reduce our
efficient and Would an affordable storage to the cloud storage costs AND
economical at online archive be because we think that improve availability.
Petabyte Scale? better? is cheaper.
