The Solution Configurator is a configuration, validation and collaboration tool that provides the ability to
create and customize solutions through a unique online self-service portal that simplifies doing business
with Dell Technologies:
• Access all server, storage and networking configurations, as well as the most complex projects.
• Self-serve technically valid configurations without the involvement of the distributor.
• Faster quoting and aggressive prices when using our pre-configured solutions: Smart value Bundles
• Greater price transparency, list price visible on OSC
• Quicker quoting transactions with your distributors via the online collaboration feature.
• Best offers while leveraging the deal registration process.

You can access the Solutions Configurator tool via the Partner Portal
Notes:
After logging into the portal, go to Sales
and Purchase, then click on Solutions
Configurator and click on “Launch Tool”.
Solutions Configurator is also available
in the Quick Links section on the home
page.

Users have the option to either start from a new draft Provide Solution Name, Category and
or review the Preconfigured Templates End User Customer Type

End Customer Type determines the product catalog when you configure your solution
Small Business = Catalog 4

Medium Business (default) = Catalog 8
Large / G500 = Catalog 18

Create New Solution from Deal Reg

Partners can directly navigate into Solutions Configurator Create New Solution page from an approved Deal Registration page
*For all approved, global Deal Registrations
Partners have an option to Create New

Solution directly by using the Create New
Solution button displayed on the deal screen.
Note: if the deal is not approved, or is expired,

an error message will be displayed. If you do
not have visibility to all of your organizations’
approved registrations, ask your partner admin
to update your profile and select the View

Import from Sizer

Use this function within Solutions Configurator to import a JSON file from a sizer

Associate a Deal Registration

• Click the Associate with Deal button to link the

solution to a Deal Registration
• Click Existing Deal to see a list of approved Deal
Registrations. Alternatively, the user can click New
Deal to submit a new deal registration
• If you already know your deal id, you can enter it in
the deal id field to search
• Select Associate next to the opportunity you want to
link to your solution
Note: If existing deal registration is not visible, please log
a case with the PXC for support

• The Deal ID is now linked,
and displayed on the

Note: If a Dell Sales rep is

partner needs to share (via
email or call) the approved
deal registration number
to associate to the quote*
*A dell rep will choose their own SFDC deal ID if a registration number is not provided, and a partner cannot change that deal ID to the approved
registration after. Partner would need to reversion, attach registration, and then collaborate back for any negotiated pricing

Versioning

Create new Version

Dell sales and Partner OSC users can
create multiple versions of a solution
• A new version may be required when

an edit is necessary
• The user that creates a solution is

the only one to have visibility to that
solution until they choose to
collaborate/share with other users
(with Dell or Partner Org)
• If you are granted access to a

solution and need to make a change,
you must reversion that solution to
“take ownership” of it, and
collaborate/share accordingly

Collaboration

Collaboration – How to add users
Learn how to manage your collaborator email list and how to create/remove users within your Collaborator list.
To manage your collaborator email list,

select the Collaborators link from the top
menu (Resources).
From the Collaborators page you can:

• Add a new collaborator email
• Remove a collaborator email
• Set collaborator email as favorite for
quick use when sharing a solution
(mark with star).
To add collaborators to use for future

solutions, enter their email address
separated by a comma. Select ‘Dell
Sales’ when adding Dell employee or
‘External Users’ when adding your
colleague or Reseller user’s.
Only users with Partner Portal access can
be added. Click the Add button to save
emails.

Collaboration - How to add Groups

Learn how to manage your collaborator Groups list and how to create/remove Groups within your Collaborator list.
From the Collaborators page you can:

• Add New Group
• Remove existing Group (delete entire group)
• Edit existing Group (by removing specific email addresses)
To add new group click Add New Group, provide group name and
group description and add email addresses from your previously
created Collaboration List and click Save.

Collaboration – How to share

The Collaboration process is required in order for your

Distributor Sales team to have visibility and/or access to your
solution ID to provide assistance.
Note: emailing a solution ID number will not work. Please 3

follow this process as outlined.
There is no systematic validation performed on the email addresses you enter so

please ensure the details are entered correctly and that the solution is not being
shared with users who should not have access to the solution (e.g., competing
partners)

Collaboration – Quick Share
1 Before sharing the Solution ID, partner

users and Dell sellers can enter additional
notes in Description/History tab of new
version. The contents of the
Description/History tab are specific to
2 each version.
2 Once the solution is ready to be shared,

select either the Share or Quick Share
1 options in the ‘More Options’ drop-down
menu
Once a solution has been shared at least once, the Quick Share
functionality is available.
Quick Share enables users to quickly share with the sales team
(incl Partner Users) that had access to the previous version of
the Solution. Therefore, clicking Quick Share on version 2 of a
solution will automatically share it with all the users on version 1.

Super User Role

Partner Super User – Company Administrator
Partner Administrator is able to assign ‘Solution Configurator Company Access’ for Partner User(s) who needs of viewing entire Partner Company’s solutions, quotes
and/or orders pipeline (example: solutions listing, search, create quote, etc.). “Super User” have visibility and access to solutions and quotes that have been created
and collaborated by the Dell Sales team as well.
Benefits: Elevated User’s visibility across a User’s eligible Partner Program Tracks, when using OSC capability features.

Company Administrator – Add new user
Administrators are responsible for maintaining and updating the company profile (including relevant and up-to-date contact details). They are also
responsible for creating new users, assigning responsibilities, ensuring that users have proper access rights, and deactivating users who have been
terminated or reassigned Channel Partner personnel who have been granted access.
Note: If your partner company currently uses ‘Shared

Partner User logins’, you can easily transition them
away to ‘Dedicated Partner User login’s by accessing
this Partner Admin ‘Add New User’ guide.
With the launch of Super User access, you can
maintain and track Partner User’s solutions, quotes
and/or orders as well as maintaining partner company
access to company’s pipeline of solutions, quotes
and/or orders.
• Login to Partner Portal
• Navigate to your profile
• Navigate to ‘Partner Account Settings’ and click

‘Partner Administrator Guide’
• Select ‘Manage Users’ if you want to learn more how

to add new users to company profile
(Please use the company domain e-mail address for
your registrations. Non-corporate or public domains
(such as Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo for example) may be
rejected).
