This manual is for installation, user and first line maintenance personnel.

WARRANTY.
I.T.O. Vaarwegmarkering BV warrants that all products conform to the I.T.O. Vaarwegmarkering BV
specifications are free from defects in material and workmanship at time of shipment.
I.T.O. Vaarwegmarkering BV will repair or replace (at its option) EXW factory, any parts or materials
found to be defective when properly used for their intended purpose. Such obligation shall be limited to
parts returned to the factory for inspection, properly packed and expenses prepaid, within twelve months
of date of
shipment and provided that inspection shall satisfactorily indicate the defects.
In no event shall I.T.O. Vaarwegmarkering BV be liable for consequences, special damages caused
during transportation, installation, adjustments or other expenses, which may arise in connection with its
products or parts.
In no case are parts or equipment to be returned without first obtaining the written permission of I.T.O.
Vaarwegmarkering BV .
This navaid is tested at the factory and operated satisfactorily. If connected according to the
Interconnection Diagram as part of the drawings, the system will operate as designed.
This warranty is to be declared null and void if I.T.O. Vaarwegmarkering BV ’s inspection indicates that
parts or equipment have been installed incorrectly, adjusted, rewired, modified, tampered with, etc.,
specifically, but not limited to the following:
* Installed with field wiring other than shown in the manual.
* Parts are substituted that are not in accordance with the manual.
* Incorrect input voltage is applied.
* The equipment is misused or abused.
* Any adjustments are made to the equipment
The warranty stated herein is exclusive. There are no other warranties, either expressed or implied,
beyond those set forth herein.

or use of these products.

1 INTRODUCTION
I.T.O. Vaarwegmarkering BV designs and manufactures navigational aids, most of them specific made
to customer's requirements.
This manual describes the IHP/IOL150 Helideck Perimeter light /obstruction light.
1.1 GETTING STARTED.

Read this manual in full before starting.
Unpack the equipment and check for any signs of damage.
Identify the component parts of the light.

2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
The light is suitable for installation in safe area’s, it’s housing is made of marine grade gun metal with an
high impact resistant dome. In the base a membrane is incorporated for airpressure equalization and for
blocking moisture to enter the lanternhousing.
The advantages of this light are especially the low maintenance cost, the very low power consumption,
the long life expectancy of the LED's, and the very high reliability.
The design of this light is according to the following standards : ICAO annex 14, volume ll paragraph
5.3.8. CAA-UK CAP 4.3.7, Offshore helicopter landing areas, guidance on standard, august 2005,
chapter 4, paragraph 3.
IMO standard (International MaritimeOrganisation), MODU code 2001 paragraph 13.4.1
Protection class IP66.
2.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This instruction manual provides information regarding installation, operation, and maintenance of the
IHP/IOL 150 lights. All electrical connections are made at the screw terminals on top of the power
supply circuit inside the housing. An internal (M6) and external grounding terminal (M6) is present.

3 INSTALLATION.
The light is to be mounted on a stable horizontal surface, and the position must meet with unrestricted
visibility requirements. Consideration must be given to accessibility, especially during maintenance and
service.
3.1 MECHANICAL INSTALLATION.

Four 11 mm fixing holes are provided, to accept M10 fixing bolts, the holes are on a 200 mm diameter
pitch circle.

3.2 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION.
Voltage drop calculations shall be made by the installer in order to determine the proper size of supply
cable, voltage drops of more than five percent should be avoided.
The cable connections are to be made directly onto the power supply circuit which is mounted inside the
light fixture. The power supply has an integrated fuse with an interupting rating of 1500 A @ 250 volt
AC.
The screw-terminals are suitable to accept max. 4mm² wires.
The torque value on the terminal screws is 2 Nm (M4).
In case the size of cable used does not fit in to the light, a separate junction box must be used.
Use crimp ring terminals for making wire connections.
Note: it is allowed to connect two wires to one terminal by using cable lugs for looping purposes.
3.3
START-UP PROCEDURE.
This procedure must be followed when first operating the light after installation.
- Check if there are any damages or loose components.
- Check if all connections are fastened.
- Clean the light internally and externally
- Close the light.
- Check power supply voltage.
- Apply power to the light.
- Lamp will start to emit light.
Note: If the light does not operate correctly, see chapter 5 trouble shooting.

3.4 CONDITIONS FOR SAFE USE.
1. The light may only be opened when it is not energized and under non-hazardous conditions .
2. The terminals are suitable for connecting up to 4mm² conductors.
3. External and internal earth connections are provided.
4.Cable glands and blanking elements shall be suitable for the conditions of use and correctly installed.
5. Only fixed shifted cables are to be used. The operator has to guarantee an usefull strain relief.
6. Before closing the light, make sure the gasket is greased with Molykote longterm W2 and is properly
in his seat.

4 MAINTENANCE.
To maintain the ingress protection the O-ring must be replaced when the light is opened, contact us for
replacement.
The following checks at regular intervals are recommended.
LIGHT SOURCE INSPECTION.

The IHP150 helideck perimeter light is equipped with long life LED’s. A regular inspection that all led’s
are operating is recommended. It is not possible to exchange individual LED’s.
LAMP CLEANING.
In order to achieve maximum continued light efficiency it is essential that the dome and housing is kept
clean at all times.
Clean the light housing and dome with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, no solvents should be used.
Cleaning the light by means of pressure washers or steam cleaners is prohibited.

5 TROUBLE SHOOTING
The lamp does not light.
Possible causes
No power available, Measure the power supply at the screw terminals at the top of the power supply
circuit.
If power is available but the led’s do not light, check the secondary DC voltage to the led’s.
If no power supply is available, check the light’s control system and distribution board.
The light’s intensity is low.
Possible causes
The light dome is dirty, clean the light dome with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, no solvents may be
used.
One or more LED’s are defective Visually inspect functioning of all LED’s. If one or
more is defective contact ITONAVAIDS for a replacement light.
Check the voltage drop of the cable to the light, when a voltage drop exceeds the voltage range increase
wire size.

1 Introduction
The IMT helideck windsock system (or ‘wind indicator’) is used on platforms in order to indicate to the
helicopter pilot the direction of the wind and therefore ensuring maximum safety when landing or taking-off
from helicopter decks.
A helideck is normally equipped with at least one (1) windsock system which can also be illuminated.
The windsock should be located in such a way so as to indicate the wind conditions over the final approach and
take-off area and be free from the effects of airflow disturbances caused by nearby objects or rotor downwash.
It should be visible from a helicopter in flight, or in hover mode, both in landing and take-off areas.
Where landing and take-off areas are subjected to disturbed airflows, additional windsock systems should be
provided in order to indicate the surface wind in specific areas.
The windsock is constructed so that it gives a clear indication of the direction of the wind and a general
indication of the wind speed.
2 General layout
The illuminated windsock is available in 2 configurations: dividable and non- dividable. The configuration is
made up of several basic components. They are:
A. Galvanised steel pole with a mounting flange

C. An IQL85 floodlight complete with brackets

2.1 Galvanised steel pole including mounting flange
Decide on the correct location for the windsock and install the Galvanised steel pole (length 2M).
This can be done in 2 ways.
1) First weld the stainless steel flange to the surface, secondly bolt
the pole to the flange. In this way the pole can be removed when
necessary.
Check if it is technically possible to weld the stainless steel flange

to the chosen surface. Not all surface materials are suitable for
welding with stainless steel materials.
2) Weld the Galvanised steel pole directly to the surface.
2.2 Turning mechanism including windsock
The windsock is supplied with the turning mechanism pre-assembled.
1) Insert the turning mechanism into the pole until the black cover of the
ball-bearing reaches the top surface of the pole.
2) Insert the 3 pcs M8 size bolts and make sure that the turning mechanism
stands in line with the pole. When correctly positioned, fix the bolts
tightly.

2.3 Floodlight IQL85 including brackets
The windsock system comes with a maintenance free floodlight type IQL85 (100.000 hours continuous use and
a warranty period of 10 years).

1) Install the brackets, as shown in the photograph.
2) Make sure that the reflector is in the correct position, so as

to avoid blinding the helicopter pilot.
3) As the junction box is mounted directly to the IQL85

luminaire, the power cable can be easily connected.

3 Inspection and Maintenance
3.1 Galvanised steel pole including mounting flange
No maintenance required.
3.2 Turning mechanism including windsock
The turning mechanism is provided with maintenance free ball bearings. They do not need to be periodically
greased.
The windsock itself will be subject to wear and tear. Visual inspection is required in order to maintain 100%
functionality of the system. When, after a certain period of time, the windsock becomes damaged (eg material
ripped) it can easily be replaced. Drill out the rivets, remove the ring and damaged windsock, replace with a
new windsock and remount the Galvanised steel ring. Provide new rivets.

3.3 Floodlight IQL85 including brackets
As described above, the IQL85 floodlight is maintenance free. Also the stainless Galvanised steel brackets do
not require attention.
