Introduction to TEC Campus Programs ‘The TEC Software Evaluation Campus Program introduces the fundamentals of enterprise software and the selection methodology used by Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC). TEC is a Montreal-based global company that helps organizations ofall kinds to evaluate and select the most appropriate enterprise software for their needs. It uses TEC Advisor, a proprietary online decision support system that gathers the relevant information to allow clients to make their own informed decision. ‘The program makes TEC Advisor available to universities, with access to detailed models of software functionality. These models can be used to define a shortist of vendors and their software products, and to compare the various features and functions, set priorities based on the requirements, and conduct in- depth analysis. Educators can use these models to define the most commonly used enterprise software, to conduct, case studies using real-world scenarios, or even to conduct software selection exercises, for example, in which students match company profiles with models of software functionality. How these models are used can be customized based on the course requirements. Example: Students can be presented with a number of company profiles and given access to several detailed functionality frameworks within TEC Advisor. Students then have to determine which of the functional models applies to each of the companies. The company profiles describe the nature and business model of each company, and the functional definitions detail the characteristics of the software needed to support the business model of a company. Students can analyze the functional models of all the companies, set priorities that illustrate the relative importance of the different functionality modules, and evaluate the solutions to define the most appropriate one for their needs. This rounds out the learning experience for students and guides them from start to software selection process.
