In Worksheet 5 we have two pictures, a photograph of a migrant

woman during the period of the Great Depression, and the bookcover
for The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Both illustrate the Dust
Bowl and the flight to the West by destitute farmers after the 1929
crash. They used the iconic Route 66 that even today remains a big part
of American lore. A long winding road of more than 3,000 kilometers
that crossed a major part of the USA from Chicago to Los Angeles. A
symbol of the country used in movies and art works during most of the
20th century. Route 66 was closed in the 1980s.
