Sentence Connectors

A. Logical Connectors

1. Logical connectors are used to join sentences which follow a logical order.

2. We use the logical connectors ‘therefore’, ‘consequently’ and ‘as a result’to


show result.
-It was raining heavily. Therefore, there was no sports practice.
-There was not enough supply of chickens.Consequently, the price went up.
-Their homes were damaged by the floods. As a result, they had to evacuate.

3. We use ‘however’ to show a different or contrasting idea.


-He was a rich and successful businessman. However, he was not happy.
-I wanted to buy tickets to the show. However, they were all sold out.

4. We use ‘besides’, ‘furthermore’ and ‘in addition’ to introduce extra information.


-Besides spoiling your teeth, eating too many chocolates will make you fat.
-You can participate in all kinds of sea sports on the island. Furthermore, you
can relax by going shopping and sightseeing.
-The house is huge with eight bedrooms and five bathrooms. In addition, there

B. Sequence Connectors

Sequence connectors are used to join sentences which follow a sequence of events.
