Individual verbal & AutoCAD drawing Demonstration

OBJECTIVE:

A drawing is a blueprint of a building or civil engineering works and act as communication tools
between the construction industry players. There is many information can be retrieved from the
blueprint of the particular project.

In this activity, the students are requiring to study the element of architectural, structural and civil
engineering infrastructure in the blueprint of a building. They also need to identify the difference
between architectural, structural and civil engineering drawing. The students also are trained to
communicate using this medium and at the same time they need to explain the drawing to ensure that
they understand what they draw and produce. This is important because before we decide to
construct the structure, supposedly we must do understand on how to read and draw the drawing.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Able to understand the basic and theoretical aspects of real architectural, structural and civil
engineering drawing.
2. Able to describe the basic element of architectural, structural and civil engineering in the perspective
blueprint.
3. Able to produce basic architectural, structural and civil engineering drawing by using CAD system.

SCENARIO:

i) Each group is required to find a set of drawing consist of architectural, structural and civil engineering
drawing from the construction industry’s player. The students need to work in a group of THREE - FOUR
members. Every group must reproduce a set of drawing consist of architectural, structural and
infrastructure drawing by using AutoCAD software accordance to the selected drawing.

d. Date of completing the drawing.
e. Space for initials of person who draw the drawing.
f. Space for initials of person who check the drawing.
g. Drawing number.

iii) Based on the project searched, define and describe the project in term of type of project, parties
involved and the list of principal drawing available. The principal drawings of the structure built are

Presentation
1. The students are required to form an effective team
(A group of THREE – FOUR students).
2. Each group is required to find a set of drawing consist
of architectural, structural and civil engineering
drawing from the construction industry’s player.
3. They are given one week to get the drawing.
4. Each group need to redraw and reproduce the
drawing by using CAD software. They need to appoint
a leader to monitor the project progress on weekly
basis.
5. Briefing will be given on the roles and responsibility of
a leader.
6. The appointed leader needs to deliver instruction to
the team members to accomplish their project’s
objectives.
7. Each group need to prepare the schedule of works
and list out the elements which need to be drawn
individually. Each group members need to draw at
least 2 architectural drawing, 2 different types of
structural for structural detailing and 1 type of
infrastructure works.
8. You are advised to meet your lecturer on lab timings
regularly and get your plan/work review periodically.
Lecturer will monitor your work and will do internal
evaluation.
9. Each group is required to create a short presentation
with allocation of 7-10 minutes duration.
