Activity: Global Economy

Process Questions

1. Do you think that the Philippines is harmed as other countries transfer their
activities to us through outsourcing?
For my own perspective it’s a no, rather Philippines could benefit from it.
When a company in another country outsources, the risk is particularly greater
in that country than any. Due to the presence of outsourcing companies in
the Philippines, the deed of foreign entities creates jobs for Filipino people. As
a result, it benefits the Philippines.

2. In what ways do international organizations help our country’s economy?

First international organizations have the obligations to have security

standards for helping countries to develop and to accomplish economic
security and establishing norms for how countries make trade agreements
and resolve conflicts.

3. Does the position of rich countries as giants in the economic chain threaten the
status of less developed countries in the global market?

Rich and powerful countries in the international market. It jeopardizes the

status with less developed countries because the title of developed country
itself is a high class when compared to the very living or the normal system
and progression from other countries that were not yet or were not
developed. Smaller, less developed countries can benefit from exports to
larger countries because these larger countries have large markets for goods
and services, particularly consumer goods.

Activity: Follow the Product

The products that we consume and use----foods, clothing, and gadgets--- are part of
our way of life. Globalization allows for a worldwide exchange of these commodities and
exposure to different cultures as well. This activity will allow the students to investigate the
origin and spread of the products and services sold in our country. They will also be able to
know the countries involved in the production, distribution, and consumption of the
products being sold being sold and consumed in the country. The following are the steps to
accomplish this activity:

1. Choose a specific brand of the product

a. Coffee - Nescafe
b. Sports car – Chevrolet Camaro
c. Laptop - Acer
d. Hamburger – Zark’s Burger
e. Wristwatch - Rolex
f. Shoes - Adidas
2. Make a table and categorized them: List down the main ingredients or raw
materials in manufacturing the chosen product. Identify the corresponding country
from which each ingredient or raw material came from.

rubberized fabrics, and solid

tires for carriages and bicycles.

3. Identify the countries involved in the manufacturing of the chosen product.

Indicate the corresponding service the country does for the product (e.g., Costa
Rica- planting of coffee beans).
Germany - Adidas AG is a German multinational corporation, where most materials
of the chosen products came from, founded, and headquartered in Herzogenaurach,
Germany, that designs and manufactures shoes, clothing and accessories. It is the
largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and the second largest in the world,
after Nike.

4. Aside from the Philippines, list other countries in which the product is being sold.

There were exactly 2,527 adidas stores around the world according to a 2020 survey.

5. Cite the kinds of technology that made the creation of the product possible.
Consider communications and transportation.

Boost was unlike anything that came before, and its energy return technology would
go on to change the course of running forever. The revolutionary performance shoe
technology that first hit the pavement in 2013. Today, adidas continues to iterate
Boost and push the concept even further ahead. Adidas Boost technology is a
product of the adidas Innovation Team (AIT) and German chemists BASF. It was
created to bring together the formerly contradictory benefits of soft and responsive
cushioning. At the time, EVA foam was the industry standard for performance
running shoes. Boost was about to change all that, introducing a midsole made from
thousands of expanded particles that work together to deliver an uptick of energy
return in every stride.

Boost was officially integrated into the adidas running line in 2013. Over the
following years, Boost would make a name for itself as an icon of running, eventually
becoming so popular that it would break into the world of sports and streetwear

culture. To create Boost, thermoplastic polyurethane particles are expanded to form

closed cells around tiny pockets of air. The resulting product is known as expanded
thermoplastic polyurethane—or eTPU, for short.

From its first commercial release in 2013, Boost has set new standards for
performance shoe technology and constantly pushed that narrative forward with
iteration and improvement. Here is a quick timeline of some of the major
achievements of Boost.

2013: Energy Boost premieres as the first adidas running shoe with a Boost midsole.

2014: adiZero adios Boost wins the Men’s WR at the Berlin Marathon.

2015: Ultraboost becomes a crossover hit of high-performance running and fashion.

2016: Ultraboost X pushes the design even further with a laceless upper and
targeted support.

2017: adiZero adios Boost wins the Women’s WR at the London Marathon.

2018: Ultraboost x Parley incorporates upcycled and recycled waste into its iconic
design.

2019: The story of Boost continues with the release of Ultraboost 19 and Pulseboost
HD.

There are mainly three kinds of transportation will be used in the Adidas shoes
commodity chain. First transportation method is by air, which has the highest speed
and cost. The second method is ocean freight, which takes the longest time but have
least cost. The last one is road transportation, which has the medium speed and cost
among these three methods. Transportation is involved in a variety of commodity
chain activities, such as transporting products to warehouses and transporting
products to customers. The distance between the starting point and the destination,
the cost, and the delivery time all influence the mode of transportation chosen.
Adidas chooses sea freight as the primary shipping method when transporting
products from manufacturing plants to retail stores around the world “Climate
Change”.

6. Write one or three statements about the creation of the product. Indicate whether
you agree or disagree.

Ultraboost 20 is not just a symbol of innovation. It is innovation in action. The Boost

midsole offers 20% more energy return with every step. Feel the precision, thanks to
Tailored Fiber Placement stitching, a textile process that calculates yarn density to
the millimeter. The motion weave midfoot gives Ultraboost 20 both flexibility and
control for a comfortable ride. And finally, the iconic heel frame offers support at
launch and landing, making Ultraboost 20 too responsive for this world.

✓ Yes, I Agree. Adidas made a history in shoe game where they

invented the use of this called “Boost” as the cushion of their
product. Many customers as well as me one of a million user of their
product adidas is still in the process of innovating their product.
