PRACTICE PAPER 02

Time Allowed: 2 hrs Max. Marks: 50

SECTION – A (1 mark)

1. Slope of a line joining the points (7, 3) and (k, 2) is – 4. Find the value of k.

2. A point is on the x-axis. Write its y-coordinate and z-coordinate.

3. A coin is tossed twice, then find the probability of getting atleast one head.

4. What is the probability that a letter chosen at random from word ‘EQUATIONS’ is a consonant ?

5. A bag contains 9 discs of which 4 are red, 3 are blue and 2 are yellow. The discs are similar in shape
and size. A disc is drawn at random from the bag. Calculate the probability that it will be red

6. Find coordinates of a point on the parabola y2 = 18x whose ordinate is three times the abscissa.

7. If the latus rectum of an ellipse is equal to half of minor axis, then find its eccentricity.

8. Find the ratio, in which the line joining the points P (4, 8, 10) and Q (6, 10, – 8) is divided by XY-
plane.

9. Find the point on z-axis which is equidistant from (1, 5, 7) and (5, 1, – 4).

10. Find the coordinates of a point which divides the line segment joining the points (5, 4, 2) and (– 1, – 2,
4) in the ratio 2 : 3 internally

12. Find the equation of lines passing through (1, 2) and making angle 30° with y-axis.

13. Find the equation of the parabola that satisfies the given conditions Focus (0, –3); directrix y = 3.

14. Three consecutive vertices of a parallelogram ABCD are A (3, –1, 2), B (1, 2, –4) and C(–1, 1, 2).
Find the fourth vertex.

15. 4 cards are drawn from a well-shuffled deck of 52 cards. What is the probability of obtaining 1
diamond and 3 spades ?

16. A, B, C are three mutually exclusive and exhaustive events associated with a random experiment. Find
