This is our proposal design for biogas filtration.

The materials and equipment will be used in this study such as; five plastic bottles (used
for storing Reverse Osmosis processed potable drinking water), pvc pipes, an LPG hose, and a
biogas analyzer.

The system will be designed to practically remove impurities or so-called non-

combustible gases such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia so as to improve the
the efficiency of gas produced, ensure the safety of end users and prolong the life of the
equipment.

This filtration system consists of five stages

This filtration system consists of 5stages for raw biogas purification. The raw biogas enters its
first filtration, which is the water scrubber for the removal of CO2 and trace of H2S. Dahil ang
mataas na konsentrasyon ng CO2 sa komposisyon ng biogas ay nagpapababa sa heating rate of
gas and could be source of corrosion on the equipments so water scrubbing is the cheapest and
simplest method of upgrading the biogas.

The second stage is for further elimination of H2S, the filter is filled with an iron sponge because
one of the unwanted gases that make up raw biogas is hydrogen sulfide and must be eliminated
due to its corrosiveness and toxicity.  Dahil ang h2s ay isa sa mga noncombustible gases na dapat
alisin dahil sa corrosiveness and toxicity nito.

The third stage is filled with silica gel, this substance has a very effective characteristic of
absorbing water vapor because Biogas is indeed constituted with water vapor since it is driven
from solid or liquid fractions with high moisture concentration.

The fourth stage is designed for the removal of elemental sulfur that is formed after the H2S and
iron sponge got in contact and the removal of CO2 as well, this is filled with the solution of
sodium hydroxide and water.

The last stage of filtration contains activated carbon and will be designed for further elimination
of CO2 and trace of H2S because activated carbon is commonly known for
its CO2 and H2S removal ability.
