REFLECTION ABOUT BUDDHISM
As someone from the Philippines where it is mainly Christianity, I've
never really felt attached to it. Buddhism, for me seems so much more realistic and impactful. Buddhists do not believe in any kind of deity or god, although there are supernatural figures who can help or hinder people on the path towards enlightenment. What I like about Buddhism is how it was created by one man’s spiritual journey to enlightenment. From a prince with a luxury life to achieving enlightenment or Nirvana. He married and had a son, but his life changed when he saw "the four sights": a sick man, an old man, a dead man, and finally a man seeking eternal happiness. Later, he inspired Siddhartha Gautama to abandon his luxurious life and seek total liberation, also known as nirvana. I admire Siddhartha Gautama for traveling for many years and depriving himself from all wants and many needs including food for long periods of time to achieve awakening. What I like about Buddhism is that it is probably the religion most associated with peace and tranquility. I discovered that most Buddhists devote the majority of their time to meditation activities in order to liberate themselves from feelings of inadequacy. Buddhists also believed that there was no permanent soul, but rather a collection of perceptions, feelings, and senses that comprised all living things, and that they would one day be liberated from nirvana. I also learned that Buddhism followed the so-called eightfold paths, just as Christianity followed the ten commandments. The Eightfold path enhances intention, views, liberation, and knowledge that define wisdom in different individuals. The Eightfold path enables them to portray ethical and acceptable behaviors in their livelihood, actions, and behaviors. Buddhism is one interesting religion full of peaceful individuals that believe that peace is a core measure that will help them towards achieving spiritual Nirvana.
