Simple Past

The simple past tense is used to tell actions or situations in the past.

Pattern :
Verbal
( + ) S + V.2(Verb 2)
( - ) S + did + not + V.1(Verb 1)
( ? ) Did + S + V.1 (Verb 1/Inf)

Pattern :
Nominal
( + ) S + To be (Was/Were) + Bkn Kata Kerja
( - ) S + To be (Was/Were) + Not + Bkn Kata Kerja
( ? ) To be (Was/Were) + S + Bkn Kata Kerja

For Example (Verbal) :

 Ria bought a set Television in the Shop


 Ria didn’t buy a set Television in the Shop
 Did Ria buy a set Television in the Shop

For Example (Nominal) :

 We were happy
 We weren’t happy
 Were we happy?

Exercise :
 Ali ……..(play) football yesterday.
 Did he ...... (make) a telephone call last week ?
 Ali ……..(repair) his car two days ago.
 I …….(watch) TV in my living room with my friends.
