Remote Inspection Protocol (RSP)

G1
SUBJECT TO BE DETAILED
Rev.03 - August 2020

RINA is neither responsible of any accident or casualty to any persons whether employed by the ship owner or by any
third party, nor for any damage to property of the owner or of any third party, occurred on board during the remote
survey.
Ship owner and crew remain responsible to ensure that during remote surveys on board safety procedures are
complied with.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
In hazardous areas only certified safe type electrical apparatus/smartphones are used for the remote survey, in
particular they are to be suitable for use in Zone 1 (see Pt. C Ch. 2 Sec. 3 para. 10 of the rules), and must have
explosion group and temperature class (at a reference ambient temperature of 45°C) equal or higher than those
required for the products the ship is allowed to carry.
In general electrical equipment having explosion group IIC and temperature class T4 (T.amb =45°C) are suitable for
the large majority of the hazardous product normally carried on oil*, chem, and gas tankers. Other examples are
available in Pt, C Ch.2 Sec. 3 para. 10 of the rules.
*For pure oil tankers explosion group IIA and temperature class T3 (T.amb =45°C) are sufficient.
