WHAT DOES ONE NEED TO KNOW IN PLAYING SPORTS

 History- the inventor of the sport, country of origin, and development of the
game

 Court/ Dimensions Venues- where the games are played (indoor, outdoor, or
both), size different designs for male or female, and safety procedures for the
players

 Equipment and Gear- proper protective gears, uniforms, and outfits which also
involve safety of players and the officials

 Technical and Tactical Skills- technical skills are the basics of playing the
game (e g., basketball- dribble, shoot, pass) while tactical skills are the
strategies to take advantage during the game

 Rules of the game- set of rules on how the game is played, violations,
penalties, how to score points, how many players are allowed, etc.

 Officiating- officials of the game, their duties and responsibilities of calling for
violations, penalties, points, etc. and regulating fair play

LESSON 2

Arnis

dates back before the colonization of the Spaniards, during those periods it
was called KALI and the technique of the art is focused on bladed weapon
fighting

Benefits of Arnis to a Person

Desirable character traits such as self confidence, fortitude, and self discipline
are developed in the practice of Arnis

Effective self defence

Arnis contributes to the development of Physical Fitness

Develops mental qualities such as alertness and precision

Develops mental strength and courage that allows someone face danger and
pain

Develop the virtue of perseverance to the highest degree

What are the essential principles that you should learn in arnis

Speed is very important factor in the game

The grip must be firmed and the stroke must be delivered with a bounce
Concentration is needed to dominate the opponent

 Downward Inward Block- this types blocks all strikes coming from the left,
especially blocking the left knee

 Upward Rising Block- this block is used when blocking the ahead

 Vertical Block- this is effective when blocking the stomach
