What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that connects with
a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that you cannot just google an

My inquiry question is:

Can i teach my learnings to other people while not in person.

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are choosing to
investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect to your passion(s),
purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

Hair has always been a passion of mine, my mom never did my hair nor did she even know how or where to
get started. I chose this topic because I want to be able to teach people how to get into hair without being
frustrated and overwhelmed with the learning and doing of hair. After high school I plan on going into the
beauty industry which will include hair, makeup, and medical esthetics.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this area of inquiry?

For the past 9 years I have always offered to do anyone’s hair if they needed help, mostly because nobody
was there to help me with my hair as a little girl only my dance teacher. Recently my best friend decided to
become a hairstylist and she has been teaching me techniques with different types of lengths, volumes and
colors.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What connections does this
inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?
 My goals in life are to do something with beauty because in that career you have a lot of time to be
passionate about what you are doing and you get to really connect with the people around you not only
clients but the coworkers you work with. If I start having my step by steps of how to do hair starting from the
basics then people will trust me in the future to have me do their hair in a salon style setting.

Personal awareness & responsibility: i take responsibility of my work and understand learning takes
patience and time
Social responsibility: need to have good social skills and have a positive aspect on every front as i am
putting everything i got into this.
Critical thinking: i consider my purpose and realize that my work can actually help people.
Creative thinking: my creative aspect will be my Instagram and i will be choosing my own aesthetic.
Communication: if i don't have good communication i will not get my point across so this will be a big key in
this project.
Personal & cultural identity: this is giving me an idea of what i want to do with my life so it will really be
helping me out.

To present my project i will be creating an Instagram page and will have tutorials posted staring from the
basic of hairstyles then moving up while i will be teaching other people i will also be learning how to do
hairstyles that I don't already know how to do.

 For my capstone project i will be researching new hairstyles and tips and tricks to make them look perfect. I
will not only be learning how to do more difficult hairstyles i will teaching other people how to do them
through an Instagram account i will be creating from scratch. Basically my whole capstone is teaching me
how to not get frustrated while learning new hairstyles myself.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and skills you will
need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to access/learn all of the resources
necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail your plans.

For my capstone i will be using a fake head to try styles on and while I'm working with the hair i will be
watching YouTube videos or other Instagram stylists to extend my knowledge on hair.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will you need to

help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you? What is your plan to access
the mentorship/community connections necessary for this project?

For my capstone i took knowledge from my friend who i had a consult with to do my hair and she kind of
explained to me how things work and what things effect hairstyles. She actually gave me the idea to do
hair so in a way she really did help me out. I did not reach out to her but i did go see her in her salon and
thats where i learned all the information.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee that might
affect progress with your Capstone Project?

In the beginning i was hoping to be able to go to an actual salon and to like shadow my friend to see how
she does things as basically a professional

I'm hoping this will bring me closer to an idea of what i want to do after high school, ive always wanted to
something with beauty but i still dont fully know if i want to only focus on hair. In reality i hope to mybe
have my own salon that i personally do everything i offer
