1.Identify on the category of make-up used in the following broadcast situations. (10marks)

Make improves, enhances or alters the appearance of the actor or actresses.

A) citizen television prime time news at 9:00P.M

straight make-up category is the suitable category of prime-time news. Because in this category the
make is used for general improvement, without altering the basic appearance.

B) Drama tv series Navy NCIS to portray a cadaver

Here both collective and character make-ups apply. This is because for collective make-up, it will
enhance the features of the characters, suppress and disguise facial defects. However, character
make-up still applies because of the character of portraying the cadaver.

Diction determines the words you use, which consequently determines the writing style and type of
to you use.

Therefore, through diction:

1.a writer can sound friendly or serious, knowledgeable or clueless, poetic or dry.

2. It is also good to communicate subtext and layered meanings beyond words literal definitions.

3. It ensures that spoken words are clear by using the right pronunciation tone and enunciation.

a) investigation

it is an action of trying to find out the facts about something in order to learn how it happened,
who did it etc.

b) News

It is information about current events which can be in many ways e.g. word of mouth, printing,
postal systems, broadcasting, electronics communication.

c) Reviews

it is a facility for playing a tape recording during a fast wind or rewind so that it can be stopped at a
particular point.

d) columns

it is a recurring piece or article in a newspaper, magazine or other publication where a writer


expresses their own opinion in a few columns allotted to them by newspaper organization.

e) Feature writing

It is an advanced journalism course focused on writing non-fiction, non-opinion articles for


informational media such as newspapers, magazines, newsletters, trade journals and internet sites.

5.Identify the equipment that you would use in outside broadcast (OB). (5marks)

1.A number of cameras (beginning from 4 cameras and exceeding 44+ cameras per OB units)

2.A mobile control room, staffed by a director, vision controller, sound operator and videotape
operator.
