L01. Prepare Materials, tools and equipment for horticultural crop production work

1.1. Identify the required materials, tools and equipment according to lists
provided and/or teacher’s/supervisor ‘s instructions.
Objectives:
1. Identify materials, farm tools, implement and equipment used for crop production
work.
2. Describe how to use the materials, farm tools, implement and equipment in crop
production work.
3. Select materials, farm tools, implement and equipment required for the job.
III. Activities
A. Lesson Information
Hand tools are usually light and are used without the help of animals or machines.
They are being used in performing farm activities which involve small areas like
school garden and home garden.
Farm Implements -These are accessories which are being pulled by working
animals or mounted to machineries (hand tractor, tractor) which are usually used
in the preparation of land. These are usually made of a special kind of metal.
Equipment These are machineries used in crop production. They are used in land
preparation and in transporting farm inputs and products. This equipment needs a
highly skilled operator to use.

Hand Tools :
Bolo is used for cutting of grasses
and weeds,
loosening and pulverizing the soil

Hand cultivator is used for
cultivating the garden plot by
loosening the soil and removing
young weeds around the plant.
Farm Implements:

Plows. These are farm implements
either pulled by a working animal or
a tractor. The plow is specifically
used for tilling large areas, making
furrows and inter row cultivation.
