The star child

Nutsa Gvelesiani

The moral of Wilde's story is that no matter how strong

their ruler is, the people will never achieve progress without
self-determination.
"The Star-Child" is a handsome boy, who believed, that
he was truly the son of a star. As a result, he believed himself
to be superior to everyone else and becomes arrogant and
cruel. When his real mother comes to the village where he
lives, he wants nothing to do with the woman and mocks her
for her ugliness. As punishment for his cruelty, he becomes
ugly himself. He remains that way, until he shows kindness to
others, even at the risk of his own life.
Oscar Wilde is trying to tell us, that we can’t achieve
anything in life without hard work and determination.
