Aim:
To give a coherent treatment of basic theories and problems from group theory.
Course content:
Normal subgroups; Quotient groups; Subgroups of a quotient group.
Homomorphism; Fundamental theorem of homomorphism.
Center of a group: Commutator, Commutator subgroup, Centralizer, Normalizer.
Automorphism.
Assessment Strategy:
Continuous Assessment – 30%
Assessment-1 (ILO-1) -Closed book exam- 15%
Assessemnt-2 (ILO-2) -Closed book exam -15%
End Semester Examination(ILO 1 - 2) –7 %
Closed book exam - 1 Hour
