Whenever the manufacturer ends support for any operating or database systems, TCG will also stop
supporting it.
Microsoft products are supported in DocProStar until their Mainstream Support end date.
For more information on the product life cycle of the different operating and DB systems, please refer

with Process Modeler, Process Monitor, System Monitor)

Concerning the software requirements please also refer to the section Operating and database
management systems.

WWW.TCGPROCESS.COM Platform Servers – Page 7

(1) The memory capacity requirements of the network shares for importing into the platform and
exporting to the backend systems (archive, DMS, etc.) can be calculated depending on

• Average document size (number of pages)

• Desired storage time of the files (number of days)
Import: Each stored image (page) requires around 50-100 KB of data (TIFF, A4, b/w, 300 dpi).

Export: Each stored image (page) requires around 50-100 KB of data (PDF, A4, b/w, 300 dpi).
(2) The actual sizing depends on the

• project complexity,
• processing time frames and
• all project specific additional parameters.

4 Database Servers

4.1 MSSQL Database Server

The recommended minimum requirements of a MSSQL database server are listed in the following table.

Note: It is strongly advised not to use MSSQL Express Edition due to its limitations.

The actual sizing depends on the complexity of the project, required processing time and additional
parameters.

SQL Database

Server type SQL database

Hardware Requirements

CPU Up to 2.000 pages per day: Minimum Quad Core 3 GHz

More than 2.000 pages per day: Minimum Quad Core 3 GHz
More than 20.000 pages per day: On request (in consideration of
the project-specific requirements)

RAM Up to 2.000 pages per day: Minimum 8 to 16 GB

More than 2.000 pages per day: Minimum 32 GB
More than 20.000 pages per day: On request (in consideration of
the project-specific requirements)

Hard Disk(1) DocProStar produces a high I/O load on the database disks.
Therefore, we recommend up to a volume of 2.000 pages per day:
1 hard disk for the Operating System, 50 GB
1 SSD for the primary data files (.mdf files), 80 GB
1 SSD for the transaction files (.ldf files), 20 GB
1 SSD for the temp db files, 20 – 80 GB
If more than 2.000 pages/day are processed, the requirements
have to be calculated on a project-specific basis.

Network Gigabit
Recommendation: If possible, disable named pipes for SQL
client/server protocols and enable only shared memory and
TCP/IP, but note that named pipes are needed for FTD in a cluster
environment.

SQL Database

Software Requirements

Operating System Windows Server Standard and Datacenter

DBMS Microsoft SQL Server Standard and Enterprise

Others

Virtualization Virtualization is not recommended, but if virtualization is required,

it is recommended that only enterprise-class hypervisors are used
(i.e. ESX-Server). Best practice guides for virtualization of DBMS
should be adhered to.

Backup, Fail-safe

Recommendations Recovery model SIMPLE is recommended

Fail-safe hardware is recommended (RAID 5 / RAID 10, UPS etc.).
Dedicated Gigabit backbone between application server and
database server
A trusted relation must exist between all the DocProStar core
machines and the database server.

Note: Database servers should be installed with collation SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. If another

collation is required, it has to be case insensitive.

Concerning the software requirements please also refer to the section Operating and database
management systems.

Some recommendations for a Microsoft SQL Server installation and configuration are described in the
"DocProStar 2022 Microsoft SQL Server Settings" documentation.

WWW.TCGPROCESS.COM Database Servers – Page 10

(1) The memory requirements for the database server that will hold all platform data of DocProStar is
calculated by

• Average document size (number of pages)

• Desired storage time (number of days)
For calculating the reference average guideline:

• The data volume for 1 document with 2 pages is approximately +/- 600 KB
This includes

- complete OCR data,

- extraction data results,

- image files (TIFF, PDF, etc.)

- document process related data

Note: It is important to use hard disks with sufficient cache to ensure short access times.

4.2 Oracle Database Server
The recommended minimum requirements of an Oracle database server are listed in the following table.
The actual sizing depends on the complexity of the project, required processing time and additional
parameters.

All scaling should be discussed with the internal Oracle infrastructure and databases specialists.

Oracle Database

Server type Oracle database

Hardware Requirements

CPU Minimum Quad Core 3 GHz

RAM Minimum 8 to 16 GB

Hard Disk(1) 100 GB

Note: DocProStar produces a high I/O load on the database disks.

Therefore, SSDs are recommended.

Network Gigabit

DBMS Oracle 19c

Others

Virtualization Virtualization is not recommended, but if virtualization is required,

it is recommended that only enterprise-class hypervisors are used

5 Check+Act
The recommended minimum requirements of Check+Act are listed in the following table.

Check+Act

Hardware Requirements

CPU Minimum Quad Core 2 GHz or better

RAM Minimum 8 GB recommended

On Citrix Servers, calculate up to 2 GB RAM per user session
(depending on the size of the master data).

Needs to be escalated according to the total amount of documents
that need to be processed, their types and number of pages per
document.

Hard Disk Minimum 300 GB

Recommended: SSD with a minimum of 500 GB free space

Network 1 Gbit network recommended

Monitor Minimum 22'' with a minimum resolution of 1280x1024

7 Ports
The different services of DocProStar communicate with each other using the same port.

By default, port number 80 is used for HTTP and port number 443 for HTTPS. It is also possible to use
a different port according to customer specific requirements.

In any case, the corresponding port must be open on all servers that are used for DocProStar.

In addition, the generic standard OS (Operating System) ports number 135 and 139 must be open for
common communication.

For the database servers the following ports are required.

DB Servers (default)

Type Description Ports

SQL communication TCP 1433, 1434 or as

specified by the client

SQL communication UDP 1433, 1434

Oracle communication TCP 1521
