FUTURA is a National Level Technical symposium that attracts the brightest of talents from across the nation. This year, Futura returns for the thirteenth time in a bigger and better avatar of itself, with esteemed guests from various conglomerates like FREESCALE, NASA and TECH LABS to grace the occasion. FUTURA 2011 is a Technical symposium with a difference, as it caters to the creative and intellectual needs of all age groups. With the previous edition of Futura being a resounding success, the participation in Futura 2011 is sure to touch new heights.

SALAMANDERS

INTRODUCTION:

Salamenders is a Mega Event Organizing by Aeronautical Engineering Department during FUTURA11.Its a Hovercraft race,a hovercraft is capable of operation on either a solid surface or a liquid surface. The hovercraft includes a hull on which is mounted at least one thrust-lift fan assembly for providing an air cushion under the hovercraft and for propelling the hovercraft in a forward or reverse direction. The hovercraft also includes a steering fan assembly mounted transversely to the thrust-lift fan assembly and that allows the hovercraft to be steered in any lateral direction. The hovercraft is controlled by operation of the fans in the appropriate direction. RULES:

y The team consists of a maximum of three members. y The primary objective is to complete the track in shortest possible duration. y The dimensions of the raft should not exceed the following specifications. (Width -25cm, Length - 25cm) y The propelling system should not make any contact with the water surface. The number of propellers should not exceed more than two. y Control surfaces could be in any form (sails, flaps, etc,) but should be on the raft not under the raft. y Only RC transmitters and receivers are allowed. Wired controls are strictly prohibited. y Hover craft type of arrangement will be more helpful.

y Participants can bring their own RCs or will be provided by the Event coordinators. (Hint: Participants can make use of wheels for traversing the land terrain.)
