DYPUSM visited Maithri Aquatech Private Limited on Friday, 20th January 2023. Maithri
specializes in making Water from Air technology which is definitely an innovation worth
watching. Both students and faculties found it interesting and fruitful.

More than half of the planet's 37 largest groundwater aquifers are being depleted. Surface-
based freshwater bodies are drying up. Pairing this with increased demand from growing
global populations and poor agriculture practices, we have a dire situation our hands.

With the current rate of consumption, two-thirds of the world's population will face water
shortages by the year 2025. No solution exists which solves for both water purification and
freshwater generation.

Therefore, Maithri Aquatech was founded with the mission to ease dependence on scarce
water resources and provide water on a sustainable basis wherever required.
Mr. Subramanian from the Divine Foundation had a prototype machine of Maithri Aquatech
which generates about 50 liters of water from air in 5 hours. Other variations of this machine
are also available.

The company has developed an innovative technology to harvest the water vapour in the
atmosphere to produce potable drinkable water on a sustainable basis. Its innovative solution
called MEGHDOOT (which in Sanskrit means ‘Messenger of the Sky’s’) produces 100%
microbe-free potable water by using the water vapour present in the air.
