Rokan block
Tuesday, January 24 2023 - 07:57AM WIB

PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), operator of the Rokan block, plans to drill nearly 600
wells this year in a bid to increase production.
“This year we are targeting nearly 600 wells. So we are continuing the massive and
aggressive drilling in Rokan to increase production," said PHR President Director Jaffee

producing block, in August 2021.
Jaffee said in December that PHR plans to drill 592 development wells in 2023 in a bid to
increase oil production to around 180,000 BOPD from the 2022 target of 160,000
BOPD. The company also plans to drill six exploration wells this year.

Govt open to input from oil, gas contractors: Official
Monday, January 23 2023 - 11:45AM WIB

Tutuka Ariadji|Director General of Oil and Gas

In a bid to help increase the country’s oil and gas production, the government is open to
inputs from various parties including oil and gas production sharing contractors.
This was said by Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Resources, Tutuka Ariadji during a meeting last week in Palembang, the capital of South
Sumatra, with 13 oil and gas contractors operating in the Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel)
region.
"We have listened to complaints and input from representatives of the 13 contractors in
Sumbagsel and know what needs to be improved. We are open to these suggestions and
will do what is our job,” he said as quoted in a statement obtained Monday.
He said that in a bid to follow up on these inputs and improve the country’s oil and gas
investment climate, the contractors are expected to also cooperate by preparing the
necessary data. “If we ask for data, please submit it because we need data to meet with
other ministries and formulate appropriate policies,” continued Tutuka.
In the meeting, the oil and gas contractors called on for government support to accelerate
the licensing process including with regards to environmental and the use of forest areas;
land acquisition process especially in areas that overlap with palm oil plantations; and new
incentives.
It was also suggested that regulation regarding CCS/CCUS be issued immediately so that
they can be implemented by the oil and gas contractors, as well as the issue of high toll
fees for several pipeline sections.
During the meeting, Tutuka also urged the contractors to observe the health, safety,
security, and environmental (HSSE) issues in their operations.
“The oil and gas industry is very vulnerable to accidents, but it is also the most experienced
compared to other industries in the world. The oil and gas industry has been going on for
more than 125 years and this long experience has made HSSE our culture to this day. HSSE
is number one in the oil and gas industry,” he said.
The oil and gas contractors attending the meeting include PHR Regional-1 Zona-4,
Petrochina International Jabung Ltd, Medco E&P Indonesia South Sumatera Region, Odira
Energi Karang Agung, Tiara Bumi Petroleum, Medco E&P Grissik Ltd, Sele Raya
Merangin Dua, PHR Regional 1 Zona-1, Repsol Sakakemang, Jindi South Jambi B Ltd,
Mont’dor Oil Tungkal, Tately N.V., and Sele Raya Belida.
According to the State Budget, the Sumbagsel region is targeted to deliver oil lifting of
70,489 BOPD this year, and gas lifting of 1,441 MMSCFD, through the drilling of 80
development wells, workover of 113 wells, and maintenance activities of 2,257 wells.
