LOAD-AND-CARRY APPLICATIONS

Wheel front-end loaders commonly are used as load-and carry units where the loader
excavates, transports, and dumps or spreads material. Typical load-and-carry
appli cations are:

1. Load at face and carry to hopper, crusher, stockpile, dump, etc.

2. Strip, carry, and stockpile topsoil.

3. Load from stockpile or surge piles and carry to hopper.

4. Load, carry, and spread material for construction and maintenance of roads, dikes,
settling ponds, etc.

The wheel loader has excellent mobility and is widely used for small or intermittant load-
and-carry applications. Larger wheel loaders also are used as primary haulage equipment
for short transport distances of up to 183 m (600 ft) with level to gentle slopes.
