The Garden Oak
When Alejandro came to the world, the oak tree was already in the garden, no one was
surprised that the boy was afraid of it, because it was bigger than him and its branches
looked like arms stretching out to reach something.

They thought that when he grew up, he would forget the fear, but it was not like that, the
boy refused to go out to the garden, he said that the tree wanted to catch him, trying to
enter through the window, it even covered it completely with a piece of furniture, and
sometimes they found them asleep in the bathtub.

No one could believe his story, so he just pretended that everything was fine. Since the
boy didn't complain anymore, everyone considered the matter forgotten, until the little boy
disappeared.

The window was broken, there were some oak leaves on the ground, and signs of drag
across the yard, which also reached the tree. Still, no one wanted to mention the obvious
relationship.

They declared the boy lost, initiating the police protocol for his search, but this did not obtain
any positive results.

As the days passed, only the mother recognized that her son was not lying, the evidence
spoke for itself; He had even spent so much time looking suspiciously at the oak that he
had seen the branches change position more than once.

So he took an ax, and went to hit the trunk hard, blood flowed from his wound, the branches
spread out scared and the woman hit harder, but there was little she could do to bring down
the great oak.

She fell on her knees to the ground, full of disappointment but then she saw another
opportunity in front of her, she removed the earth with great impetus, to discover the roots
of the tree and salt them, but she never imagined encountering such a scene, the body of
her son lay there, between the roots, almost dry, for these fed the oak with the boy's blood.

This had been going on for many years, because apart from that 14 more bodies were
found, just equal to the number of branches that the tree had.
