Dear Frodi,
It was a real sorrow that I heard this morning of your great loss. I knew your mother was ill, for your brother
told me several weeks ago. However, as he at that time did not seem to think the illness was very serious, the
news of your mother’s death came to me as a shock. You have my sincere and heartfelt sympathy, my dear
fellow, in your sorrow. I know you will feel it deeply, for you always thought so much of your mother and
loved her so truly. I feel it also as a personal loss to myself, for your mother was always very kind to me. Her
death must be a terrible grief to your father, too. Please assure him of my sincere sympathy.
Words, I know, are poor comforters. “The heart knows its own sorrow”, and in such sorrows we are always
alone. However, it is not mere words when I say that I feel with you in your sorrow.

Dear Jonny,
Hello! How are you? I received your letter today. I am very excited to hear that you are coming to stay with
me for the holidays. I am sure we will have a lot of fun together.
My parents have agreed to let you stay with me. They offered to pick you up at the airport. All you have to
do is to tell us when you are coming.
I will now tell you about some of the things you will experience here in Indonesia. You do not have to worry
about the local spicy food. We have a lot of fast food restaurants here like the ones you have in England.
You can also shop for souvenirs to bring home. Sarinah or Blok M are our famous shopping areas. They
have many shops selling all kinds of things. I am sure you will love them.
I am also planning to take you to a few tourist spots like miniature of Indonesia, National monument, or
Safari Garden. We can also go to the Ancol beach where you can swim, play on the beach, and have picnics.
My family and I are looking forward to your coming. I hope to hear from you soon. Good bye.
With love.

Dear Intan,
Intan, sorry I haven’t written to you for so long. We moved into a new apartment last month and we’ve been
really busy getting settled.
It’s a nice apartment. It is bigger than our old one. It’s big so there are a lot of rooms to work in. It has a big
living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Another thing I like is the kitchen.
The apartment is on a quiet street in a good neighborhood. There’s also a shopping centre just down the
street with a supermarket, some quite good restaurants and some stores.
We really enjoy living here. Do come over and have a look next time you are in the town. I’ll wait.

The bear was the father of five children. The youngest bear was very kind to the rabbit. The mother bear,
knowing that her youngest child was a very hearty eater, always gave him an extra-large piece of meat. The
baby bear did not eat this extra-large piece of meat. Instead, he would take the meat outside and would pretend
to play ball with it, kicking it towards the rabbit’s house, and when he got close the door, he would give the
meat such a great kick that it would fly in to the rabbit’s house. In this way, the poor rabbit would get his meal
unknown to the papa bear.
The first morning, I got into a cable car and I was so excited. I wanted to go to the top of the mountain and sky
down. The cable car started up and I looked down. The mountain was too beautiful. But suddenly, there was a
terrible noise. Then, the car stopped. It didn’t move and it was quiet everywhere.
It started snowing and it began to get dark. I was alone for, at least, two hours. I thought, ”They’ve forgotten
me!” I felt so hopeless. Fortunately, at last, the car started back. It went very fast.
“Sorry,” a man said when I climbed out of the car.” We’ve never had this problem before. Please try again
tomorrow.”
“He’s joking,” I thought. “I’ve had enough of cable cars for a lifetime.”
In order for things to run smoothly during this weekend’s move, everyone is required to clean out their own
desk and pack up the contents in boxes prior to leaving the office this Friday. Boxes will be provided to you in
your work area on Thursday afternoon. You are also asked to please remove everything from the walls of your
work area and pack those items in the boxes along with all of your other belongings and work materials.
If you have a lot of personal belongings, you should take them home with you before the move. Likewise, do
the same for any valuables. During the confusion of a move such as this, it is easy to misplace and/or lose track
of things, so in the case of your personal belongings and valuables it is better to be safe than sorry. The
company cannot be held responsible for the loss of any personal items during the move. So, please ensure that
you remove all valuables and personal belongings before the weekend.

Most birds take off almost vertically from land or water, body straight and wings beating quikly. Once in the
air, it leans its body forward and the wings beat more sloly. For landing, the movements are reversed-
straightening its body and beating its wings quickly before landing.
First of all, they are very convenient because you can phone from nearly anywhere. Another advantage is that
they are really useful in emergency situations. For example, if you are alone in your car and it breaks down, you
can get help quickly. In addition, you can also use your mobile to text your friends or connect to the internet.
However, there are disadvantages such as the cost. Some mobiles call still cost more than normal calls.
Furthermore, it can be annoying if you are on a train or a bus and you have to listen to someone else’s boring
conversation. Another disadvantage is that people can contact you anywhere, at any time, unless you switch
your phone off!
In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages to mobiles. Personally, I feel mobiles are a good
thing because they give us more freedom and make communication easier.
An elephant has a trunk, two tusks, two eyes, two ears and two lumps on its head. It is known to be a clever
animal. When a elephant is hot, it fans itself by flapping its ears back and forth. When an elephant herd wants to
move, they use their ears as a guide. Their hearing range is very large. Elephants hear some noises that cannot
be heard by human’s ears.
Sumatran elephants have enough strength to knock down a tree. They can also pick up a log using their trunk
and their tusks. They trunk is their nose. They also use it like a hand. Just below their trunk, they have their
tusks. Only make Sumatran elephants have tusks. A baby elephant is called a calf, the females are called cows.

Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world. It impresses many people because it is the symbol of love
from a husband to his wife.
Taj Mahal stands in the city of Agra, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh ,on the banks of the Yamuna
River. It was built in the memory of the beautiful Muntaz Mahal, who won the heart of a Mughal prince, Shah
Jahar. Muntaz Mahal died during the birt h of their child, Gauhara Begum. The construction of Taj Mahal was
begun soon after Mumtaz’s death.
The focus the Taj Mahal is the white marble tomb. Four minaret’s frame the tomb. Meant while, the main
chamber houses the cenotaphs of Muntaz Mahal and her husband, with their graves located on lower level.
People who font of infotainment programs believe that the contents of infotainment program are based on the
fact and can encourage celebrities to do positive things in public. They also believe that journalists of these
programs always try to find the truth behind the gossip. Moreover, celebrities need such programs to promote
their profile. These programs give a room for mutual needs: reporters and celebrities. Reporters need the story,
while celebrities need fame.
Nevertheless, there are also some people who strongly object to the good point of infotainment programs. They
say that infotainment programs are merely about slandering another person. They say that infotainment
programs are merely about slandering another person. Sometimes, the program goes too far into the private
lives of people. For example, gossips about a divorce or about someone cheating on his / her spouse often
become the headlines. The worst thing is, sometimes, sometimes the stories are reported without firstly seeking
the information or confirmations from the person involved in the stories.
So far, infotainment programs have become a dilemma for some viewers. On one hand, these programs can run
stories on how celebrities build their career and how they feel about being famous, but on the other hand. These
programs also bring terrible consequences, especially for celebrities whose private lives are scrutinized.

When a country faces the problem of overpopulation, the government applied some method to solve it. One of
them is the method of contraception. However, this method is not one hundred percent successful.
Consequently, some people argue that the abortion is the only effective way out.
Nevertheless, abortion may cause many negative effect for women’s health. Women risk their health and lives
in bearing the weight of the operation and its consequences. The most common complication are inflammation,
infertility, endometriosis and many other kinds of ovary illnesses.
So far, abortions have become a dilemma for countries with a large number of citizens.
Lighting is electricity, and electricity involves tiny particles. Some particles have a positive charge and some
have a negative charge. The two opposite charges pull towards each other like the north and south ends of
magnets.
Usually, electric charges are fairly balanced but the turbulent winds of a storm caused electric charges to
separates within the cloud.
Most lighting occurs within the cloud itself, but we’re concerned about the lighting between clouds and the
ground.
Lightning starts with negative charges moving from the clouds towards the ground. Scientists call it a stepped
leader. Meanwhile an upward leader forms as positive charges move up from the ground usually from tall
objects when a stepped leader and an upward leader meet, it makes a path for a much larger and brighter electric
current to shoot up into the cloud. This is what we see in the sky as lightning. It happened so quickly that
lightning seems to travel from the cloud to the ground.
When in fact the opposite is true. So, can lightning strike the same place twice? Absolutely. For example,
Toronto CN Tower is struck by lightning around 75 times each year. In fact, in August 2011 the tower was
shocked a record-breaking 52 times in 84 minutes. But don't worry the tower was built to withstand it. So, it's a
safe place to be if lightning strikes once twice or even 52 times.
This process the changing of water into a gas is called evaporation because gases are lighter than liquids. Water
vapor rises up into the sky and the further you move up and away from the Earth's surface the colder
temperature gets, so in the sky the water vapor cools and changes back into tiny water droplets. This change is
called condensation, and it is the opposite of evaporation.
Clouds are made up of tiny water droplets so when condensation occurs in the sky clouds form and grow. When
water droplets bump into one another they stick together and grow in size they continue to grow until they are
too heavy and fall as rain. They even grow they bump into one another on their journey from the cloud to the
ground and every single raindrop that reaches the ground is made up of 1 million of the original tiny water
droplets.
Raindrops fall on the ground surface or the Sun can shine on them and the whole process happens again. This is
called the water cycle and keeps water moving from the ground to the sky providing the water needed for plants
animals and people to survive.
