The painting ''Nighthawks'' by Edward Hopper presents some people sitting in the bar at night.

It is a
warm, quiet summer night. On the first plan is the bar and people inside. On the second plan
(background) is an empty town. The bar is sleek, clean, bright, has smooth walls and huge windows.
This piece of art is quite mysterious and has a quiet, uncertain atmosphere. Everything seems
absent, the city is sleeping, the only present people are the ones in the bar. I think that they were
returning from somewhere and decided to stop there and order a cup of tea. I have the impression
that the people in the picture are alive. My attention is focused on the couple, which is talking with a
barman. It seems as if their conversation is going peacefully. The painting title ''Nighthawks''
associates with the people, who stay late at night, which suits it very well.
