LEARNING OBJECTIVES

M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to ask each other when their birthday is.

C At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to complete the table with their friends’ names and birthday months in
cursive writing.

1. Stick the month flashcards around the classroom. Say a month word at random. E.g. June
I. PRE-LESSON 2. Pupils point to the correct flashcard and say the word.
3. Repeat steps with other month words. Ask pupils what month is it now. March
Activity 1:
 Give each pupil a month word card. Ask all the pupils with January to raise their hand/card,
then February and so on. Elicit the order of the months as you go.
 Have pupils stand up and say the months on their cards in order, without modelling. Repeat,
but a little faster and continue as necessary, making this a fun drill.

II. LESSON  Have pupils check their answers in pairs first, then check as a class.
DEVELOPMENT Activity 2:
 Pupils listen and read a story given in page 36 and recall days of a week.
 Pupils answer questions ask by teacher which is related to the story.
 Pupils say the months in order.
 Show pupils the present, ask them when we give presents. Elicit birthday.
 Put the month cards around the room. Ask pupils to find the month of their birthday
and go and stand by it. Ask pupils, by month When’s your birthday? Pupils reply It’s in
x.
 Pupils ask friend’s birthday month and write it in cursive writing with teacher’s guidance.

III. POST LESSON 1. Pupils do activity 3 in WB pg 27 by ask few questions given to their friend with guidance.
